TITLE: Know Your Customer (KYC) Specialist
LOCATION: New York, NY
DUTIES: Identify the Client type (Corporate and FIs) and create the Customer Due Diligence (CDD) record in the USA and across SCB network locations as per SCB’s CDD policy and procedure. Reach out to the client documentation for Onboarding and periodic reviews requesting additional documents that could not be sourced from public domain and registry websites to request client’s confirmation on sanctions links, bearer shares issuance, FATCA, and CRS forms. Assess client risk as part of onboarding the clients in the US and across SCB network locations. Review Tax Forms (US FATCA forms and Common Reporting Standard forms). Successfully complete milestones as laid out in implemented personal learning plan. Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework where SCB operates and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role remit. Comply with applicable Money Laundering Prevention Procedures and report any suspicious activity to the Line Manager and Operational Risk Team. Ensure a clear and uniform approach towards implementing global operating model for all Client Management-related processes and adhere to Department Operationals. Report deviation, if any, to relevant stakeholder and obtain approval. Proactively manage risks and follow controls framework to improve the overall state of the risk management and operating framework. Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with Standard Chartered Bank policy.
REQTS: Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Applied Computer Science or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related position. Must have five (5) years of experience with: KYC policies, procedures, and regulations; Working knowledge of KYC for financial institutions and correspondent banking relationships; Knowledge of anti-money laundering, terrorism financing, and sanctions; Knowing the regulations, understanding Financial Crime and AML Risk Assessment, and knowledge of using local and international channel, systems, and procedures; Acting as a service partner, working together with RM (Relationship Manager), CM (Client Manager), Product Sales, Operations, and other key internal stakeholders to solve client channel issues, and identifying opportunities to improve overall service for the clients; Analyze, Develop, Implement and Maintain the Global Client Management Model and propose recommendations where necessary; Supporting Group RM/CM to assess risks identified during the due diligence process (adverse media, sanctions, PEP forms); Proactively managing risks and following controls framework to improve the overall state of the risk management and operating framework.
SALARY: $111,925 – $145,000/year
HOURS: Full time; Mon – Fri (40 hours per week). EOE.
