Job Description: 

Job Summary

The role holder will spearhead the stressed and distressed loan trading strategy of the Loan Trading, East desk within Credit Trading. This person will be responsible for making sure that proper risk analyses are done prior to risk proposals, and that relevant risk approvals are in place. Therefore, the role holder will need to be highly experienced and skilled/proven across all aspects of stressed and distressed loan trading to be convincingly effective in conveying clear, accurate ideas and the correct risk picture in securing relevant approvals and limits. In summary, the role holder will diligently manage a risk book designed to book stressed / distressed loans and secondarily trade par loans opportunistically with profitable churn within ageing limits. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    To grow meaningfully the secondary trading franchise of fixed income assets – IG, HY & Financials of issuers in Greater China (“China Credit”) for Global Credit Trading.
•    Work with Sales, e-Sales, e-Trading, Research, Capital Markets, Technology and Syndication to execute initiatives to grow the broader Global Credit franchise.
•    Awareness and understanding of the strategy and business model of the larger Trading Group and Global Credit, as appropriate to the role.
•    Ensuring effective end to end client identification, risk management, service and infrastructure.
•    Work in conjunction with other partners to ensure SCB has a best-in-class offering for the EM credit asset class especially China Local Currency Credit.
•    Assistant in sending market colour / comments to sales on daily basis and promoting China onshore flow business.
•    Providing timely updated credit analysis/ profiles on China credit names for trading desk and to sales
•    Facilitate smooth deal execution including deal detail check and help to centralize booking instruction when necessary. 
•    Helping sales translate specific clients’ needs into specific bonds.
•    Deliver training and education on products to internal and external audiences (sales and clients) 
•    Ensure the stability, long-term sustainability, and reputation of the Bank.
•    Identifying areas of concern on matters of appropriateness/suitability and raising them to senior team members.
•    Provide timely support on credit bonds both at the trade idea origination level and at execution time
•    Generate/providing market watch and generic trade ideas to sales force, provide support on documentation review and drafting, deliver marketing support and product explanation to sales and to clients when necessary.
•    Analysing, assessing and propose specific credit bonds based on specific client needs, liaise with sales/trading/legal/MO and other related support functions to transform idea to trade.

Business
•    Increase SCB’s visibility by driving commercial, competitive pricing of credit trading for our clients.
•    Help manage the implementation of flow credit trading specific strategies and ensure that performance objectives and revenue goals are met and RWA targets managed.
•    Active performance monitoring – spot areas of underperformance and take corrective action.

 

Processes
•    Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations.
•    To embed Operational Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process. Towards this, to effectively carry out the assigned role, if any, under Compliance Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Assurance.
•    Ensure that the business meets its obligations the prevention of money laundering under the Group Policy and Standards and under local laws and regulations.
•    Help ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place. Help monitor the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in products, systems, policy and regulations.

 

People & Talent
•    Build a transparent and collaborative culture in which incentives are based on support of Client Income with specific performance metrics on the Bank’s values.
•    To work in partnership with Credit Flow teams across to ensure that the flow trading product is value additive for clients and the bank.

Risk Management
•    Identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them.
•    Embed operational risk management and reporting as an integral part of the business process.
•    Ensure that adequate and appropriate systems and controls are in place to comply with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards, and codes.
•    Monitor all major risk issues and concentrations. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate reporting to Risk Committees.
•    Comply with guidelines as outlined in the annual Trader Mandate.

 

Governance
•    Promote an environment where compliance with internal control functions and external regulatory framework is a central priority of the business.
•    Establish, maintain, and supervise the framework to ensure business functions under my area of responsibility comply with internal policies, procedures, codes and applicable external laws and regulations and adhere to the expected high standards set out in the FM Code of Conduct.
•    Ensure the overall targets relating to budget are cascaded to teams with appropriate product targets and performance delivery on targets is proactively managed.

Skills and Experience

•    In-depth knowledge of the distressed credit landscape in APAC, covering illiquid, stressed/distressed debt, and special situations
•    Trading & analysis experience across a wide spectrum of loans: in varying credit rating qualities, structures, tenor, jurisdictions, and industries over many years
•    Track record of risk managing loan assets, including stressed/distressed, and distributing risk
•    Sharp business acumen, including ability to assess risk and commensurate level of RoRWA / RoTE

Qualifications

•    A bachelor’s or master’s degree in top universities in related majors
•    Strong interest in credit trading/sales business  
•    Strong mathematical and numerical skills
•    Proficiency in data collection and analysis
•    Excellent research and writing abilities
•    Thorough understanding of credit market and financial analysis 
•    Interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure
•    A team player who can work independently

•    [CFTC & National Futures Association & SEC] Authorized Associated Person Registration - SEC AAP registered.
