Job Summary

Associate Director is a key role, to support the overseeing of workstreams and Business and Functions (“B&F”) delivery squads to complete in release specific remediation and implementation in order to strategically drive the effective delivery and adoption of the Group’s Refreshed Data Management Strategy. Programme Mercury is a pan-bank, multi-year programme, led by the Group Chief Data Office in partnership with the Group’s Business and Function CDO, COO and 2nd line of defence teams, and focused on ensuring long-term and tangible improvement across all data risk sub-types across all lines of business, functions, and geographies. Mercury’s ultimate objective is to sustainably reduce data risk for the bank, aligning with our overall strategy, enabling our business, supporting our clients, and meeting our regulatory requirements. 

Mercury will effect this change as the delivery vehicle for the detailed design and execution of the Bank’s Data Management Strategy end-to-end, building central capabilities and end-to-end processes, for prioritised and phased implementation. Capabilities span all aspects of the Data Management Strategy, from our approach to identification and governance of critical data, through to operating model, data architecture and control frameworks, as well as our approach to data sovereignty horizon risk and data literacy. 

The programme is highly visible to the PRA, the Group’s Board and Risk Committees, and with Group Management Team Sponsorship. Successful delivery of the programme requires ongoing collaboration with interdependent strategic initiatives, including those within GCFO, Technology & Architecture, CFCC, FCSO and others. Interlocks with these initiatives, as well as business and function risk treatment plans, will need to proactively identified and managed. 

You will support in the
•    Coordinate overall delivery of release between Programme, Workstream and B&F
•    Creation, management/iteration and co-ordinated execution of delivery release plan
•    Determine the release critical path (integrating elements of DQMS, B&F RTPs and relevant Mercury capabilities as ready) and co-ordinating the single, integrated release plan (across WS’s and B&F boundaries)
•    Manage risks and resolve challenges impacting release scope, quality, and schedules. Identify dependencies on key WS milestones /B&F deliverables / sign-off points as well as other programmes
•    Identify and prioritise key outcomes and capabilities for the release.
•    Identify WS deliverables, associated Definition of Done (DoD) and B&F requirements from integrated backlog to achieve prioritised outcomes
•    Understand status of design completion of deliverables
•    Identify design and implementation activities required (including key milestones and sign-off points)
•    Plan and manage release windows and cycles; manage critical path across workstream deliverables and B&F activities.
•    Support Change & Business Enablement to craft and communicate release outputs and report change / adoption progress in Governance forums.
•    Ensure release outputs meet required standards and requirements, including tracking and completion of Definition of Done for workstreams and B&Fs before release exit. 
•    Leverage programme Target State Key Results and Non Financial Benefits (including WS Quantitative Targets) to define and track release benefits
•    Curate artefacts evidencing delivery of release outcomes across R2 to R4.
•    Proactively raise issues for resolution based on engagement with B&Fs and escalate to Programme / B&F CDOs
•    Support workstreams and B&F delivery squads to complete release specific remediation and implementation; track, measure and report progress in Governance forums
•    Work with Change & Business Enablement Stream to ensure effective implementation and adoption of Mercury capabilities and track benefits realisation

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Develop an understanding of the Bank’s strategy especially as it pertains to the areas of Data and more specifically Data Quality
•    Ensure the alignment with Programme Mercury’s deliverables with both the CDO’s strategy and more broadly the bank’s strategy 
•    Capture, prioritise, and manage multiple release schedules, interdependent deliverables across Business and Function Risk Treatment Plans, and implementation plans for the Group’s Data Management Strategy end-to-end
•    Embed the Strategy into the milestones, deliverables and impact the Programme will drive

Business 
•    Work with Change Lead to manage and track for adoption 
•    Benefit tracking and management handover to B&Fs

People & Talent 
•    Lead and support a change in mindset, building a culture of client centricity, agility, and accountability through standardised metrics and measurement, ensuring the team are drivers and owners of client outcomes.

Risk Management
•    Prioritisation of integrated release plan with critical path activities
•    Develop critical path with risks and interdependencies (including alignment with RTP, B&F activities to understand prioritisation for outcomes and other strategic programme interdependencies) 
•    Assess risks that threaten releases and identify interventions required
•    Deliver QA work, support training and adoption planning (as required)
•    Identify, track, and report delivery and governance risks from across releases
•    Support programme management to establish mitigation and resolution plans for programme risks and track them to completion. 
•    Support reporting on programmes risks to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

•    Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting; Masters and/or Post graduate programs preferred
•    English
•    Minimum 12 years of overall work experience in banking field.
