Job Summary
As the Associate Director, Corporate & Business Communications at Standard Chartered in Hong Kong, you will play a pivotal role in implementing a comprehensive range of communications strategies. Job Responsibilities
- Support the CEO and senior leadership team in developing speaking points, briefing materials, and handling media inquiries to facilitate high-impact media engagements and public appearances.
- Drive the Bank’s external profile and narrative by creating engaging content, coordinating media interviews, and producing press releases and materials that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across business units to ensure cohesive messaging that aligns with the Bank’s strategic objectives and enhances its market positioning.
- Liaise with investors, community representatives, and regulatory bodies to effectively communicate the Bank’s initiatives, performance, and corporate responsibility activities.
- Manage the Bank’s social media presence by crafting relevant and timely content, monitoring public sentiment, and responding appropriately to maintain a positive online reputation.
- Provide critical support during crisis situations by leading issues management efforts, anticipating reputational risks, and implementing proactive media monitoring strategies for swift response.
- Work closely with the Group Communications team to ensure local communications efforts are fully integrated with global campaigns and corporate messaging.
- Contribute to the development and execution of strategic communication plans that support business growth and enhance public understanding of banking products and services.
- Continuously assess the communication landscape and emerging media trends to innovate and improve strategies while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a closely related field, demonstrating a solid academic foundation in communication principles.
- At least eight years of professional experience in media relations or public relations, with a significant portion dedicated to social media management in a corporate or financial services environment.
- Fluency in both English and Chinese, with excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored for diverse audiences.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various media platforms and proficiency in media monitoring and engagement tools.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders including media professionals, regulators, and internal business leaders.
- Strong aptitude in crafting clear, persuasive messages and representing the organisation's position effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Exceptional organisational and multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
