Job Summary
• Transaction Banking Group Product Management is hiring an Associate Director, Embedded payments who will direct and influence the development of our Cash payment product to ensure alignment to the strategic initiatives and regulatory compliance across the bank’s footprint.
• Standard Chartered is investing significantly in its transaction banking capabilities to meet clients and business needs globally whilst increasing operational efficiency and deliver best in-class transaction banking products. We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Product Manager to support the management and development of the Bank’s eCommerce gateway within the broader Embedded Payments proposition. This role will be responsible for driving key product initiatives across the product lifecycle, including product development, vendor management, governance, commercialization, and internal technology coordination.
Key Responsibilities
• The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders across product, technology, operations, risk, legal,
compliance, sales, and external partners/vendors to enhance the Bank’s digital payment capabilities and deliver scalable, client-
centric payment solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong product professional who is passionate about digital
commerce, payment innovation, and platform-based banking solutions. Individual will be responsible for identifying opportunities,
validating business case and leading agile squads to deliver solutions to meet our changing business and client requirements within the Embedded Payments product.
• Your priorities will span across products for corporate Cash management solutions, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory
requirements while enhancing user experience. You will also be leading partnership initiatives within the bank and externally within
the financial eco-system with regulators, processors, service providers, etc.
Embedded payments Product Development and management:
• Support the development and enhancement of the Bank’s eCommerce gateway and embedded payment capabilities in line with business strategy and market needs.
• In addition, support the development of Value Added Services like Tax, Bill and Pension payments via the bank’s flagship payment platform
• Translate business requirements into clear product features, user stories, and implementation plans.
• Work closely with technology, operations, and vendors to deliver product enhancements, integrations, and fixes across the payment gateway ecosystem.
• Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation and prioritization through implementation, launch, and post-launch optimization embedding the Product Lifecycle (PLC) standards.
• Monitor market developments, client needs, and competitive trends to identify opportunities for product enhancement and innovation.
• Validate independently the business case for new requests tabled to the Group Product team within the Product Lifecycle framework
• Adopt and embed both Change Delivery Standard (CDS) and Group’s Enterprise Software Delivery Lifecycle (eSDLC) throughout the lifecycle of the product.
• Product Owner for Aglie Delivery - Owns, prioritizes, and maintains the product backlog within the Hive/ squads ensuring the highest-priority items are delivered first.
Vendor and Partner Management:
• Third-Party Vendor Engagement and Risk Management: Drive proactive engagement with third-party vendors for the bank’s
flagship eCommerce gateway, ensuring they meet technical requirements and contractual compliance with the Bank's governance and risk standards.
• Track vendor performance against agreed service levels, implementation milestones, and strategic deliverables.
• Coordinate with vendors on product enhancements, issue resolution, testing, certification, and platform roadmap alignment.
• Support commercial and operational discussions with vendors to ensure service quality, scalability, and alignment with the Bank’s objectives.
• Defining operating model in conjunction with Operations, Client Implementation teams, Client Service Group and Technology partners
• Manage a clearly defined, transparent and strategically prioritized book of work with Digital Channels, Regional product and technology teams.
Commercialisation and Business Enablement
• Support go-to-market planning and commercialization of the Bank’s eCommerce gateway and embedded payment offerings.
• Work with sales, coverage, and client solution teams to develop product positioning, value propositions, and client-facing materials.
• Assist in developing business cases, pricing inputs, usage analytics, and portfolio performance insights.
• Contribute to client engagement discussions where product expertise is required to support solutioning and commercialization efforts.
Stakeholder Management:
• Ensuring synchronisation of efforts across multiple stakeholders across Program Managers, Vendors, Digital Channels, Operations,
Compliance, Risk and Technology teams to ensure regulatory compliance is embedded into product design and operational process
• Maintain regular connect and engagement with key stakeholders periodically. Addressing stakeholder concerns and managing expectations
• Lead parallel teams to work towards optimising the product value based on continuous feedback and by refining the backlog.
Regulatory and Business Conduct
• Ensure adherence to all governance policies and framework in all aspects of deliverables. Complete all required governance and regulatory obligation and training where applicable
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across
Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Our Ideal Candidate
- 8 plus years of payment related experience in Cash product management, with demonstrated ability to guide and manage platform renewal programmes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in product management, payments, transaction banking, digital commerce, or financial technology.
- Good understanding of the eCommerce payments ecosystem, including gateway models, merchant journeys, transaction flows, settlement concepts, and operational processes.
- Familiarity with prevalent digital payment methods such as: Cards; Digital wallets; Account-to-account payments.
- Familiarity with QR-based payments; Real-time payment methods; Alternative payment methods (APMs).
- Good understanding of cash management, experience working across multiple markets. Regulatory delivery across Cash products will be a plus.
- Strong product development and project management skills, including high attention to detail and facilitation experience.
- Strong experience of working collaboratively and independently.
- Strong business writing skills, communication and presentation skills
