Job Summary

The Associate Director, Transaction Banking (TB) Financial Institutions Sales Support role plays a pivotal part in enhancing the effectiveness of the Financial Institutions sales team within Transaction Banking. This position is integral to ensuring the seamless execution of client deals and delivering exceptional client service, contributing to the sustainable growth of revenues across payments, trade finance, and SCPrismFX sectors. By working collaboratively with Relationship Managers, Product Specialists, Operations, Finance, and Compliance teams, this role facilitates coordination across multiple disciplines to manage client engagements and support deal workflows.

With a flexible hybrid working model based in London and occasional international travel to attend events, the role demands adaptability and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining accurate sales reporting and pipeline management, helping drive strategic sales initiatives aligned with the broader goals of Standard Chartered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to effectively promote and sell the full suite of Transaction Banking solutions to a diversified portfolio of financial institution clients, including commercial banks, central banks, development agencies, PayTech firms, and Financial Sponsors.
  • Provide comprehensive support to Financial Institutions sales managers by preparing detailed client proposals, engaging pitch and marketing materials, internal management information system (MIS) reports, and coordinating with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth sales cycles.
  • Act as a central liaison point facilitating communication and process coordination among Sales, Product, Operations, Compliance, and Relationship Management teams.
  • Maintain and update sales pipelines, customer relationship management (CRM) data, and sales performance reports to ensure accuracy, visibility, and timely decision-making.
  • Analyze client data, transaction volumes, and revenue streams to generate actionable insights supporting sales conversations and strategic planning.
  • Drive the internal approval processes effectively, ensuring expeditious follow-up on client requests and compliance with the Group’s policies and standards.
  • Monitor product utilization by overseeing transaction histories and identifying opportunities to enhance client engagement and sales growth.
  • Lead regular pricing reviews, assessing the impact of waivers or non-standard pricing arrangements, and implement local pricing strategies at the product level in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee revenue and volume tracking for Cash, Trade, and PrismFX businesses, managing growth targets according to the sales account plan within assigned client portfolios and geographical territories.
  • Collaborate in organising market events to share industry best practices, enhance Standard Chartered’s visibility, and foster stronger client relationships.
  • Proactively engage business and functional partners to fuel the origination sales agenda, supporting revenue generation and market penetration.
  • Champion Standard Chartered’s brand values and uphold the Group Code of Conduct in every engagement and business activity.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience supporting sales teams, with demonstrated expertise in proposal development, pitch book preparation, and sales pipeline management.
  • Basic understanding of the payments ecosystem, including international and cross-border payments infrastructure, industry regulations, and emerging technology trends.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret transaction and sales data to generate insightful business reports.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to efficiently coordinate multiple workflows and priorities.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills, capable of seamless collaboration with diverse internal teams and external clients.
  • Robust problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to anticipate challenges and deliver effective solutions.
  • Clear, articulate communication style appropriate for a variety of business audiences and contexts.
  • Competence in utilizing CRM platforms, data management systems, and sales performance analytics tools effectively.
  • Knowledge of transactional banking products including payments, cash management, trade finance, and exposure to the PrismFX platform is preferred.
