Job Summary

Business
•    Responsible for supporting the management of non-financial risk for the Banking business and assisting in the ensuring effective governance across Banking.  
•    Work closely and maintain good working relationship with Risk Framework Owners and other key stakeholders to ensure a good understanding of principal risk types, regulatory and policy requirements.  
•    Expected to have foundational understanding of the Banking (Global Banking and Syndicate & Portfolio Management) business, how Banking operates within Group, and the external market environment in which we operate
Business Risk Management:
Ensure effective management of non-financial risk of the Banking business on behalf of the Group Process Owner through the following key responsibilities:  

Risk Identification, Assessment & Insight 
•    Lead risk incident governance (operational, financial, conduct and non-financial) impacting business activities, client outcomes, and operational resilience, including triage, classification, escalation and management reporting  
•    Ensure thorough analysis of incidents, risk events, and near misses to identify root causes, control gaps, and systemic themes, providing actionable insights to prevent recurrence and proactive identification of risk
•    Apply data, scenario analysis, and thematic reviews to highlight emerging risks, concentration areas, and interdependencies across business activities. 

Key Responsibilities

Risk Mitigation and Control Effectiveness 
•    Partner with business and functional teams to support the design, implementation, and strengthening of risk mitigation actions and controls 
•    Provide challenge and guidance on control effectiveness (including design effectiveness, operating effectiveness and testing strategies), ensuring risks are managed within agreed appetite and aligned to business objectives 
•    Track remediation actions and risk treatment plans, supporting timely closure and sustainable outcomes 

Risk Monitoring, Reporting & Governance 
•    Support ongoing monitoring and reporting of key risks, issues, and control metrics, ensuring transparency and clarity for senior management forums 
•    Prepare risk insights, dashboards, and materials that enable effective oversight, escalation, and informed governance discussions. 
•    Ensure risk management activities are conducted in line with internal policies, frameworks, and regulatory expectations, supporting audit, review and regulatory engagements as required 
•    Work closely with Second and Third lines of defence (e.g. Compliance, Internal Audit, Second Line Assurance) on effective coordination and delivery of risk assessments and assurance reviews.

Risk Advisory & Business Decision Support 
•    Act as a trusted risk advisory partner to business stakeholders, providing timely, practical risk insights that inform decision making, execution priorities, and trade-offs 
•    Translate risk assessments, emerging risk themes, and control considerations into clear, business relevant guidance that supports strategic and day-to-day decisions 
•    Support the business in understanding risk implications associated with new initiatives, products, process changes, or external developments 

Product Governance:
Ensure the Banking business to meet requirements laid out in the Product Governance Standard and Product Governance Policy.
•    Support the holistic product governance framework for Banking, through understanding Banking’s strategy, group product governance framework and applicable standards.
•    Support product governance deliverables and initiatives. This is performed through co-ordination of approvals, business analysis and supporting stakeholders in approving functions (e.g. Business, Operations, Compliance, Legal, etc.)
•    Provide support and represent Banking (as delegated) in Product related forums and working groups within CIB.
•    Responsible for staying current with Policies and Standards relevant to Product Governance process.
•    Contributes to improving efficiencies and timeliness of relevant processes (e.g. data collation and approvals).
•    Provides guidance and support for product governance related matters to end-users (e.g. PPG, CA, Periodic reviews, eProduct workflows)
•    Supports remediation of risks and issues identified in the process (e.g. via audit or self-assessment)
•    Supports the necessary product governance-related activities required under the Group standard and policy.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Degree holder
  • 5+ years experience
  • Able to support identification, assessment, and management of risks in dynamic environments with evolving regulatory requirements and competing priorities  
  • Able to translate risk insights, emerging issues, or regulatory expectations into practical guidance or mitigation actions
  • Exposure to cross-functional engagement across business, operations, technology, risk, or compliance teams
  • Experience in product governance, ie. managing and facilitating PPGs and Transaction Approvals
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in risk management, business, finance, operations or related disciplines
  • Professional certifications in risk, compliance, audit, or governance are beneficial but not mandatory
