You will play an essential part in driving the bank’s trade risk framework, providing clarity and guidance to business teams, and fostering a culture that prioritizes prudent risk-taking aligned with the bank’s vision and purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage trade business risk activities, ensuring comprehensive risk assessments and controls are embedded within trade operations.
- Collaborate closely with the trade finance, compliance, and audit teams to identify emerging risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide expert guidance and support to business units on risk policies, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
- Drive risk awareness and ensure teams are equipped with necessary knowledge on trade risk products and processes.
- Conduct regular risk reviews, prepare detailed reports, and escalate issues to senior management as appropriate.
- Engage proactively with regulators, responding to inquiries and ensuring adherence to external requirements and standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including process enhancements and automation to optimize risk controls.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional and global trade finance risk developments and regulatory changes impacting trade business.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; advanced qualifications or certifications in risk management or trade finance are highly desirable.
- Significant experience in trade finance risk management, preferably within an international banking environment.
- Demonstrated track record of managing risks in trade business, with comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance, including anti-money laundering and sanctions requirements.
- Strong analytical skills supported by the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in relevant risk management tools, systems, and regulatory platforms.
This is a full-time office-based role located in Baghdad. The Manager, Trade Business Risk will work closely with multiple departments, fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous learning. The role demands adaptability, strategic thinking, and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced and complex financial environment. Flexibility around working hours may sometimes be required to meet business needs and regulatory deadlines
