About the Credit Portfolio Analysis Team
You’ll join our Credit Portfolio Analysis team, part of Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) within Global Business Services. The team plays a critical role in supporting our CIB business by delivering high-quality credit analysis, monitoring and administration for corporate and financial institution clients across our global markets.
We assess clients’ credit profiles through detailed financial analysis and consideration of broader risk factors – including environmental and social risk, climate risk, fraud and reputational risk. Our work directly supports internal credit ratings, capital efficiency and informed credit decision-making across the portfolio.
This is a team at the heart of how the Bank manages risk and supports sustainable growth.
About the Internship Programme – how you’ll learn and grow
Our one-year Internship Programme gives you first-hand experiences working on real business challenges from day one. You’ll:
- Develop practical credit analysis skills through hands-on work
- Gain exposure to live client portfolios and real transactions
- Build strong relationships across regions and functions
- Strengthen your analytical, commercial and communication capabilities.
Throughout the programme, you’ll receive structured on-the-job traning and take part in an innovation project designed to deepen your understanding of how our business operates. You’ll be supported by a dedicated mentor who will guide your development and help you navigate your internship experience.
Strong performance during the internship may lead to an opportunity to join us as a Credit Analyst on our graduate pathway.
What you’ll be doing
As a Credit Analysis Intern, you’ll:
- Analyse financial statements for corporate and financial institution clients using standard templates and internal platforms
- Assess client performance by reviewing financial ratios, projections, and industry trends
- Support internal credit rating processes by inputting financial and economic data accurately
- Contribute to risk assessments including environmental, social, climate and reputational considerations
- Prepare research, financial analysis and written summaries to support credit recommendations
- Collaborate with onshore analysts, relationship managers and credit officers across regions to monitor client portfolios.
You’ll gain exposure to how credit decisions are made and understand how risk is balanced with commercial objectives in a global banking environment.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Solid analytical capability, with the ability to interpret financial information and identify trends
- Understanding of financial statements and accounting principles

- A proactive mindset, with the confidence to ask questions and seek feedback
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
