Job Description:

Job Summary

•    Lead the definition and enforcement of AI design standards, architecture patterns, and governance frameworks to ensure all AI solutions are scalable, consistent, compliant, and high-quality.
•    This role acts as a bridge between innovation and control, enabling teams to build rapidly while ensuring adherence to risk, compliance, and responsible AI principles

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Define and lead a comprehensive AI Governance & Evaluation strategy aligned with the Group’s AI North Star and business priorities, translating strategic goals into clear deliverables and ensuring AI solutions are safe, scalable, auditable, and aligned to enterprise standards.
•    Embed governance into the AI CoE’s operating model, integrating oversight and checkpoints into AI product lifecycles and fostering cross-functional alignment (tech, data, risk, compliance) to ensure “responsible-by-design” AI development without slowing value delivery.
•    Establish and maintain AI design standards and reference architectures (e.g., for Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI copilot solutions, agentic workflows) across L1/L2/L3 use case tiers, driving consistency, efficiency, and scalability in AI solution development.
•    Champion Responsible AI principles by embedding ethical guidelines (fairness, transparency, privacy) and design-for-quality & explainability practices into AI solutions from inception, and by influencing stakeholders to prioritize responsible AI throughout all initiatives.
Business
•    Bridge business innovation and risk control by advising business, product, and technology teams on how to build AI solutions responsibly – providing guidance on model choices, prompt design, and control requirements – to enable rapid innovation without compromising risk or compliance.
•    Align AI initiatives with business value by focusing governance on high-impact opportunities (productivity, efficiency, customer experience) and ensuring AI use cases deliver measurable business outcomes while reducing risk.
•    Demonstrate ROI and defensibility by linking governance efforts to tangible results (e.g., risk reduction, efficiency gains) and delivering transparent reporting and evidence to stakeholders (business and regulators) to highlight the value and safety of AI initiatives.

Processes
•    Establish a structured AI governance process across the development lifecycle, implementing risk-tiered checkpoints and approval tollgates from ideation to retirement, so that no AI use case proceeds without meeting required standards, validations, documentation and sign-offs.
•    Standardize AI evaluation and monitoring practices by defining consistent methodologies for testing AI outputs (e.g., functional accuracy, prompt robustness, hallucination checks) and protocols for ongoing monitoring (e.g., drift detection, performance metrics) to ensure early issue detection and reliable oversight.
•    Drive continuous improvement by updating governance standards, design templates, and control frameworks based on monitoring insights, emerging AI patterns and regulatory changes, and by leveraging automation to simplify compliance tasks and evidence capture.
People & Talent
•    Provide AI governance expertise and leadership. Act as the go-to expert on AI governance and evaluation, guiding and influencing teams (and senior stakeholders) to embed accountability, transparency, and disciplined innovation into AI development.
•    Build organizational capability in AI governance through targeted training, playbooks, workshops, and knowledge-sharing forums, developing practical skills across teams for responsible AI design, risk management, and rigorous evaluation.
•    Collaborate and engage stakeholders. Work closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Data and business stakeholders to shape governance standards and ensure their adoption, and represent the AI CoE in relevant audits, regulatory engagements and governance forums to uphold trust and alignment.

Risk Management
•    Identify, classify and mitigate AI risks. Proactively assess key AI-related risks (e.g., bias, privacy, security breaches, model drift) and enforce robust controls, including a risk-tier classification (L1/L2/L3), so that each AI solution remains within the Bank’s risk appetite and aligned with the Risk Management Framework.
•    Review and challenge AI use cases at design and pre-deployment stages, ensuring all material risks are mitigated or explicitly accepted with appropriate guardrails (e.g., human oversight, usage constraints) and escalating issues as needed before approval.
•    Ensure regulatory compliance & audit readiness. Integrate evolving AI regulations and responsible AI guidelines into governance processes and maintain comprehensive documentation (e.g., model inventory, approvals, performance logs) to demonstrate compliance and support internal audits and regulatory reviews.
Governance
•    Own and enforce AI governance policies and standards. Develop, maintain, and enforce the AI governance framework (policies, standards, templates, checklists) covering AI model development, testing, deployment, documentation, and monitoring, with clear accountability assigned for compliance at each stage.
•    Oversight reporting & communication. Provide regular status updates to senior management and risk committees on AI governance – including compliance metrics, key issues, incidents, and remediation actions – to ensure transparency and informed oversight.
•    SMCR and accountability. Meet Senior Manager & Certification Regime (SMCR) obligations by exercising robust oversight, due diligence and accountability, acting as the first line of defense for AI governance and a key partner to second-line functions to ensure no gaps in control.

Key Deliverables
•    AI Governance & Evaluation Framework
