Job Summary

  • Deliver analytical insights into the wholesale ECL results to support the IFRS9 Impairment Committee’s (IIC) management of the Group’s ECL. 
  • Perform Economic Scenario analyses using alternative economic scenarios and/or different model or parameter changes as directed by the IIC.
  • Analysis of model generated economic scenarios and monitor its performance.
  • Prepare and Present papers for internal governance committees on impact analysis of any changes/ enhancement made to data/ model/ output related to multiple economics scenarios.
  • Perform ECL simulation as instructed by the IIC, Business and/or any other stakeholders.
  • Liaison between model development and model users on model analytics activities

Key Responsibilities

Strategy:
•    Conduct IFRS9 Model and ECL analytics and deep dives as required by country/regional/Group teams. Develop ECL strategies across CIB portfolios and regions.

Business:

•    Ensure appropriate support in all IFRS9 models and economic scenario modelling activities related to ECL to various regions and Group in their regulatory ask/submission.

Processes:
•    Develop methodology and determine management overlay for risk events.
•    Determine PMAs based on model performance, documenting for the purpose of management’s endorsement.
•    Assess IFRS9 model (PD, LGD, EAD) parameters as per business and regulatory requirement and support impact assessments.
Risk Management:
•    Understanding of basic concepts of credit risk policies & frameworks. Quick Learning of bank specific policies & guidelines around risk management. 
Governance:
•    Awareness and understanding of the Bank specific policies around governance for data & related information & strict adherence to the same 
Regulatory & Business Conduct:
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience gained either in model development, data analysis, statistics, or other such relevant fields with a proven ability to extract analytical insights using various data sources.
  • Some relevant experience in time series analysis, numerical simulation techniques such as Monte Carlo simulation would be an advantage.
  • Awareness and understanding of the Bank regulatory framework, IFRS9 in which the Bank operates.

  • Financial Services products, in particular Corporate Banking 

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (preferably Masters) in a Quantitative Discipline (e.g. Math, Statistics, Economics, Engineering)
