Job Summary

•    You are invited to build and enrich your risk management career with the Wealth and Retail Banking Risk Management team. In this role focused on SCB proprietary unsecured lending products: 
•    You will be responsible for developing, managing and implementing policies and procedures to drive sustainable risk and reward trade-offs for the bank working together with country risk and analytics teams
•    The scope of your responsibilities will encompass a specific region which may include GCNA(Greater China and North Asia), South Asia, ASEAN, or AME(African and Middle East).  
•    You will be partnering with business units and broader risk mgmt departments to assess data and business partnerships, data sufficiency, and appropriate modelling approaches.
•    You will have the opportunity to bring innovative ideas to life and challenge existing practices towards improving the precision of our risk assessments on the unsecured lending portfolio.
•    You will be part of a team which analyses and builds risk strategies and the financial models to predict credit risk performance as part of assessing growth and mitigation opportunities for the bank. These experiences build our risk mgmt learnings and you will be charged with propagating the best practices for portfolio growth and optimizing the credit risk in collaboration with our global markets

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Work with in-country credit risk analysts, CRM COE, and business/product teams to refine products and go-to-market strategies by leading risk policy development initiatives, providing effective 2nd line challenge and drive broader risk assessment/ policy activities across markets within the region
•    Formulate credit risk strategy as per the Credit and Profitability Assessment Framework(CPAF) in order to reflect changes in risk-return dynamics.  Bring intelligence from across markets to instil learnings and effective expansion testing
•    Drive Credit Card and Personal Loan portfolio analysis/ monitoring and credit performance forecasts to ensure sustainable portfolio growth
•    Support Group Risk projects to drive actions, improvements, and consistency across WRB CCPL markets
•    Manage and evolve the Group Credit Policy as pertains to unsecured lending.
Business
•    Uphold the integrity of risk/return decisions by supporting effective challenge of credit risk policy proposals/ tests, business growth proposals and control function partners. Ensure that decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategy and risk appetite
•    Understand and analyse the credit implication of the macroeconomic environment, emerging risks and business strategy as applicable to the particular markets.
•    Work with the Product team on product innovation and collaborate on the Product Policy.
Processes
•    Support Group CCPL Head for the applicable region and Global Head, Unsecured Lending Risk to manage portfolio reviews(both market level and overall group level)
•    Working directly with in-market CRM teams and CRM COE analysts, where applicable, to formulate and refine existing risk policies/ strategies.  Take end-to-end ownership to ensure proper deployment and performance as expected.
•    Work with applicable Group and market stakeholders to ensure that risk governance and all other processes are successfully carried out.
•    Closely monitor risk/ return performance and associated leading/ lagging indicators of all applicable portfolios.  Follow through on any noteworthy observations to identify root cause of unexpected/ deteriorated performance and drive appropriate risk mitigation actions.

People & Talent
•    Lead by example and build the appropriate culture and values. Work in collaboration with risk and business partners.  Matrix manage across in-market and functional risk mgmt teams to effect appropriate actions and ensure transparency to risk performance, drivers, and in-market practices
•    For risk mgmt learning, participate as a trainer and in the development of training curriculum
•    Matrix-manage more junior members of the team and participate in their development
Risk Management
•    Across the applicable markets, track and monitor the full credit cycle performance and risk appetite metrics. Identify potential performance issues, aid in diagnosing root cause, and solutioning
•    Evaluate and influence towards sustainable business growth in the form of policy refinement and Credit Expansion Testing(CET):
      Support CETs through analyses to formulate policy and portfolio management to improve profitability
    Support country with portfolio deep-dive analyses and provide insights with recommendations on     policy changes to improve portfolio quality
•    Support the development and growth into new strategic segments of the prospect universe
•    Work with CRM COE Hub for timely delivery of policy analyses and MI.
•    Manage risk framework and other fiduciary responsibilities as needed to ensure all markets adhere with required risk management policies and processes
Governance
•    Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of region/ country application of group policies and governance processes.
•    Ensure that management stress tests are conducted with prescribed frequency and appropriately actioned in each market
•    Manage Group level review processes including CCPL Group PQR, GIA and ERR reviews with particular focus on your regional markets’ deliverables and responses

•    Ensure to timely handle the various regulatory requirements under appropriate permission, e.g. report, survey, consulting paper, research paper, inspection, regulator queries regarding regulatory submission (if any), etc

Skills and Experience

•    Credit Risk underwriting and portfolio management policy
•    Unsecured product acquisitions and existing account credit risk strategy
•    Credit strategy, performance analysis, and credit loss/ impairment forecasting
•    Collections and fraud management
•    Risk modelling concepts, metrics and usage
•    Digital payments and fintech capabilities

Qualifications

•    At least 7 years’ work experience in the Financial Services Industry
•    Appropriate academic training in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Operational Research and Economics; Minimum BA/BS degree.  Appropriate post-graduate degree(eg. MBA) is desired
•    Knowledge of data analysis programming languages such SAS programming or Python (note that this role will not be coding as a normal part of the responsibilities)
•    Strong working knowledge and understanding of credit risk analytics and scorecards, Basel, customer management & collections, policies and Credit Initiation functions
•    Good knowledge regarding Unsecured products, policy and governance framework
•    Strong problem-solving skills with ability to make independent decisions and with credibility and confidence
•    Strong English communication skills- both oral and written. Critical to influencing across the organisation
•    Possess fundamentals of leadership behaviour
