Job Summary

• Support the Data Risk & Governance agenda flowing from the Data Conduct Policy and its related Standards for the Transaction Banking (TB) business

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
To ensure control over data, protecting it from unauthorized access, and complying with regulations:
• Data Storage and Processing within specified jurisdictions
• Compliance with local data protections (Ex: GDPR)
• Access controls and encryptions
• Data Residency and localization
• Governance framework for data management. 
• Mitigating data breaches and unauthorised access

Business
• Support Data Conduct initiatives across TB, working in close partnership with Cash and Trade business teams on execution of specific deliverables and ensuring the TB approach is coherent and efficient. 
• Represent TB on CIB and CDO Data Management working groups to ensure proposed initiatives / solutions are fit for purpose and address risk reduction.
• Support regulatory and internal initiatives (e.g. Data Standards implementation) that impact the wider TB footprint e.g. Data Sovereignty, Records Management and BCBS 239. 
• Work by the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Processes
• Support Book of Work items to achieve regulatory and Data policy / standards compliance across Data Sovereignty, Data Quality, Records Management, Data privacy and AI Ethics.
• Remediate regulatory and audit commitments across TB Data Risks, managing prioritization, defining and driving delivery of risk treatment plans, assessing and reporting progress and risk.
• Provide feedback on any changes being proposed to the Data policies and underlying standards that impact TB.
• Assist all TB Cash and Trade teams to perform the Data Risk Assessment through the DRA tool for any new implementation or process amendment.

People & Talent
• Raise awareness about the importance of Data Management through education, training and other awareness program.
• Work with relevant stakeholders to simplify and templatise Group standards and accompanying Country Addenda / Schedule to facilitate operationalization of the standards within TB e.g. Data Sovereignty 
• Actively participate in a strong knowledge sharing and collaborative culture. 

Risk Management
• Support superior risk outcomes and risk culture for Data Management in TB.
• Support completion of key milestones for TB in collaboration with TB/CIB Group Data teams and in accordance with the Risk Remediation Plan / Risk Treatment Plan as appropriate.
• Support Data related Risk & Controls Self-Assessment (“RCSA”) at the required frequency intervals; provide challenge to the risk assessments performed where required; and assess adequacy of controls / in managing their Data risk.

Governance
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
• Monitor, review and report on key control metrics / risk profile related to Data Management across the TB Business.  
• Escalate risks to management or relevant committees in a timely manner. Make recommendations for improvements/changes based on the developed insights.
• Monitor data risk reduction / reg compliance levels across Data risks.  
• Ensure ownership of tasks is allocated to the correct business or technology representatives for action.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Lead the Transaction Banking Risk & Data Governance team  to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.

Qualifications

• University Degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience 
• Knowledge in records digitalisation/ imaging technology, industry records management tooling/solutions would be an advantage.
