This operational grounding enables the role to deliver audits that are relevant, credible, and focused on real world risks rather than purely theoretical control design.

•    Conduct periodic and continuous risk assessments to identify key risks arising from changes in payment products, channels, infrastructure, regulations, and operating models (e.g. real time payments, ISO 20022, digital channels).
•    Assess the design and operating effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls across payment operations and infrastructures, including SWIFT, payment hubs, host to host connectivity, APIs, and supporting systems.
•    Obtain sufficient, reliable, and relevant audit evidence through walkthroughs, control testing, data analysis, and stakeholder interviews to support audit conclusions.
•    Identify, evaluate, and clearly document audit issues, root causes, and risk implications in accordance with GIA standards and documentation requirements.
•    Communicate audit outcomes through clear, accurate, and timely reporting to management and relevant governance forums and committees.
•    Monitor and follow up on management action plans to ensure timely and effective remediation of audit issues.
•    Maintain independence and objectivity while providing credible and constructive challenge to management.
•    Collaborate with other Group Internal Audit teams to deliver coordinated and integrated audit coverage, avoid duplication, and support enterprise wide risk insights.
•    Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement activities within Group Internal Audit, including methodology enhancements and peer reviews.
•    Maintain up to date knowledge of payments risks, regulatory expectations, and industry practices to continuously enhance audit effectiveness.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. •       This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

•    Practical knowledge of payments infrastructure and platforms, such as SWIFT, payment hubs, host to host connectivity, APIs, and supporting operational systems.
•    Solid grounding in payments related risks, including operational resilience, processing errors, fraud risk, sanctions screening, regulatory compliance, and third party dependencies.
•    Experience assessing the design and operating effectiveness of controls across governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
•    Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to synthesise complex information into clear, defensible audit conclusions.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate payments risks and control issues to senior management.
