We are seeking a Data Product Owner to orchestrate our data strategy and deliver high-impact analytics solutions. You will own the backlog, define the vision for data products, and ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. Working cross-functionally, you’ll champion data quality, foster strong stakeholder relationships, and shape a culture that values transparency, accountability, and data-driven outcomes.
Strategy
Business-Driven Mindset
- Align with Strategic Goals: Understand and prioritize data initiatives that support business performance, transparency, and GTOC objectives.
- Proactive Identification of Opportunities: Regularly scan internal processes and external trends to propose new data projects that deliver measurable impact.
- Context & Narrative: Present insights with clear storytelling, highlighting both the “what” (data trends) and the “why” (business impact).
Strong Technical Foundations
- Data Backlog Ownership: Maintain a robust backlog of data stories, ensuring clarity in requirements, acceptance criteria, and prioritization.
- Architecture & Data Lakes: Understand end-to-end data flows, from ingestion and transformation to warehousing and consumption, including best practices for data lakes.
- Technical Awareness: Stay current on evolving tools and technologies (ETL/ELT pipelines, analytics platforms, etc.) that can enhance the data lifecycle.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Stakeholder Alignment: Work closely stakeholders to define and refine data requirements.
- Translate Insights: Communicate findings in plain language and ensure insights are actionable, resonating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Needs-Driven Planning: Constantly validate that data solutions address real business pain points and opportunities.
- Collaborative Delivery: Co own data solutions from concept to launch with technology and analytics to ensure we truly solve problems rather than just producing reports or dashboards.
Adaptability and Agility
- Iterative Delivery: Embrace quick prototypes, MVPs, and regular feedback loops with technical teams to refine data products.
- Agile Mindset: Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to maintain momentum and responsiveness.
- Future Pipelines: Remain alert to changing business needs or technological advancements; pivot priorities accordingly to sustain long-term vision.
Data Governance and Quality Focus
- Ownership & Standards: Establish clear definitions (data dictionaries, data catalogues) and ownership models to maintain high data quality.
- Trust & Compliance: Embed governance and compliance measures to build organizational trust in data outputs.
- Continuous Monitoring: Work with data engineering and governance teams to implement automated checks that sustain data accuracy and relevance.

- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Key Requirements

Skills and Experience
- 5 years of experience in data, analytics, or product ownership roles, ideally within technology or operations-focused environments.
- Proven track record of managing complex data roadmaps, establishing data governance practices, and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated success in stakeholder management, balancing competing priorities, and driving organizational alignment on key data initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Certifications in product ownership (CSPO, PSPO) or data analytics (Tableau, AWS, etc.) are a plus.
