Job Summary

This position is for a Director, with an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline; requires extensive experience in the areas of analytics, credit risk management, SAS and Python programming language applied in the Credit Risk Models across Retail (secured and unsecured), Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (secured and unsecured structured lending and discretionary lending), Wealth and Private Banking segments of Standard Chartered Bank. Ensure high quality service delivery through measurable performance metrics ensuring effective control, stakeholder engagement and leadership development.

Key Responsibilities

•    Understanding diverse franchise business of Standard Chartered Group covering 30+ countries, 120+ traditional banking products, 20+ digital lending products. 
•    In-depth understanding of WRB products, markets, economic situations as well as working experience with decision scorecards, credit action strategies, ECL and RWA models. Additionally, savvy with data systems and structure across product segments.
•    Create the 360-degree data view across consumer credit lifecycle, covering internal performance data (vintage, RDF segmentation for CCPL, payment history, delinquency), external data (acquisition bureau, bureau scrub, DSR for mortgage et al), cost data (ECL, RWA et al), Income data, and IIP data.  
•    This would allow a holistic view on how credit actions may lead to improvement on IIP, ECL and RWA at an individual asset level to overall portfolio level. This would provide the bedrock for 2nd gen LI forecasting framework / models that would allow us to incorporate various shape-change / growth / degrowth scenarios. 
•    Macro-level periodic review of portfolios and identify pressure points and actionable. 
•    Assist Group and Country CRMs in their strategy development through the 360-degree data view.
•    Take a broad view of all applied and in-force credit remediation actions, determine ongoing effectiveness of past actions and attempt to consolidate and skim actions as portfolios evolve and/or shape change.
•    Continuous dialogue with Country Business, Group Products and Finance teams to understand future strategy and actively provide risk recommendations. 
•    Provide data-backed insights to support business decisions on credit granting and portfolio adjustments. Present findings, risk insights, and strategic proposals to business stakeholders and senior management in clear, actionable terms.
•    Support and provide a holistic view of portfolio and assess the impact of different policy interventions on portfolio losses and provisions. Assist the country credit risk team to identifying early indicator of risk in the retail lending portfolio and recommend risk mitigation plans.
•    Understand product and recommend potential policy intervention at different point in product life cycle, acquisition, portfolio and/or collection actions, such as line assignment & management, early warning alerts, credit bureau management, etc.
•    Effective and strong communications with WRB Country Risk teams, WRB Business (Group and Country) stakeholders and WRB Model development teams. 
•    Significant experience in effective presentation and in leading and managing multi-stakeholder conversations.
•    Strong team management ability with the focus on upskilling and empowering younger team members.

Qualifications

•    Post-graduate degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or other related quantitative disciplines. 
•    Excellent understanding of retail, wealth, private bank retail lending products, and micro, small and medium enterprise products, and their business lifecycles (e.g., sales, underwriting, portfolio management, marketing, collections etc.)
•    Significant experience in a similar role; at least 10 years of total experience in a retail banking and/or small business lending analytical function
•    5+ years of experience in managing a relevant team.
•    Very good statistical programming skills in SAS or Python, analytical skills and understanding of quantitative credit risk models and their application.
•    Excellent Loan Impairment, Provision and Credit risk management knowledge is desirable.
•    Experience in direct interactions with Business and exposure to international markets are a must.
