The role leads complex, cross-functional initiatives and is accountable for delivery outcomes, delivery health, stakeholder alignment and sustainable execution.
Key outcomes:
• Complex initiatives are delivered to agreed outcomes, milestones, quality standards and financial constraints.
• Architecture and delivery decisions balance customer value, scalability, resilience, security, cost and time to market.
• Global teams operate from an integrated plan with clear ownership, dependencies, decision rights and escalation paths.
• Executives and stakeholders have transparent, timely insight into progress, risks, trade-offs and decisions required.
• Delivery risks, technical debt, dependencies and capacity constraints are identified early and actively managed.
• Teams improve delivery maturity through repeatable ways of working, meaningful metrics and continuous learning.
Core responsibilities:
• Define the delivery strategy, roadmap, operating rhythm and success measures for multi-team initiatives.
• Lead programme governance, portfolio reporting, steering forums, decision logs and executive communications.
• Shape target architectures and technical options; review designs, interfaces, non-functional requirements and implementation trade-offs.
• Coordinate engineering, product, security, data, operations, finance, procurement and external partners across regions and time zones.
• Establish integrated plans, critical paths, dependency maps, RAID logs, release readiness criteria and recovery actions.
• Prioritise people, funding and engineering capacity with senior leaders, making explicit trade-offs when demand exceeds supply.
• Facilitate resolution of cross-team blockers and ensure decisions are made at the right level and at the right time.
• Build trusted relationships with sponsors and senior stakeholders, challenging constructively and translating technical complexity into business impact.
• Coach delivery and engineering leaders, strengthen accountability and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Ensure delivery practices meet relevant security, privacy, operational resilience, architecture and regulatory expectations.
