Job Summary

SMR Responsibilities delegation

Head, GRS TRM

Second line of defence responsibilities:

I am responsible for the second line of defence responsibilities related to TRM, which includes:
•    Ensuring that principles of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, and corresponding policies and standards are embedded in the TRM GRS team.
•    Ensuring the effectiveness of the risk controls, monitoring of compliance to the approved risk metrics.
•    Escalating material exceptions to senior management and risk committees.
•    Making decisions within delegated authorities and maintaining necessary expertise to manage such risks

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Align GRS TRM delivery with Group strategy by embedding transformation, analytics, and standardisation, to enable scalable, consistent, and insight-driven support to the TRM function. 
•    Encourage the development of an appropriate risk culture and discipline.

Business
•    Maintain and develop the TRM GRS’s capabilities and skills to meet ongoing business needs and plans.

Processes
•    Supervise all TRM processes where a member of the TRM GRS team is the identified first line process owner.
•    Leverage automation and technology to streamline workflows, reduce manual intervention, and enhance process resilience. 
•    Ensure effective management of operational risks within TRM GRS and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations.
•    Continuously improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of team.
•    Regularly review audit reports / business risk reviews / and identify key regional trends.

People & Talent
•    Promote a culture of excellence by attracting, developing and retaining high caliber staff.
•    Ensure succession planning in the team.
•    Active and engaged performance management.
•    Lead by example to create a strong risk culture, conducive to speaking up and open to challenge.
•    Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development within TRM GRS so that holders of all critical functions be suitably skilled and qualified for their roles.

Risk Management
•    Uphold the integrity of risk/return decisions by challenging business and control function heads to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategy and Risk Tolerance
•    Identify and report key risks material to the Group and challenge the First Line to evidence that the material risks arising from their business activities have been identified, assessed, monitored and reported.
•    Support the design, maintenance, and effective communication of a framework for setting Risk control parameters across the Group, including policies, control standards, risk exposure limits and other control levers in order to maintain the Group's risk profile in line with the overall Risk Tolerance set by the Board.
•    Support the TRM function by delivering high-quality risk analytics, monitoring, and reporting aligned to defined risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
•    Collaborate with global stakeholders to identify emerging risks and drive proactive mitigation strategies.
•    Maintain a good understanding of the requirement of the Group’s key external stakeholders in respect of Traded Market Risk and ensure these are well understood internally and reflection in internal procedures.
•    Monitor internal and external events material to the Group and ensure appropriate management action is being taken to mitigate their impact by closely working with TRM function.
•    Assist the design and implementation of stress tests.

Governance
•    Develop and maintain risk identification and measurement capabilities which are objective, consistent, appropriate to the business and compliant with applicable regulations.
•    Obtain reliable assurance that policies and other control requirements are effectively implemented by the First Line.
•    Ensure effective mechanisms are in place to assign Risk authorities in TRM GRS to suitable named individuals in line with their skills and judgment.
•    Maintain an open and cooperative relationship in dealings with regulators.
•    Actively participate in key committees through standing membership/attendance.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across the Group. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Lead the TRM GRS team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Operation of Financial Markets; Financial Crime Prevention; The Right Environment.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
•    Maintain an open and cooperative relationship in dealing with regulators

Qualifications

•    Market knowledge: substantial experience at the highest level in the banking industry, including demonstrated success in a similar role.
•    Business strategy and model: sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills.
•    Risk management and control: demonstrated track record in successful management and ability to manage risk across a wide range of products and jurisdictions
•    Regulatory framework and requirement: awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
•    Non technical skills: significant relationship management experience- with external stakeholder at the most senior levels, including regulators and rating agencies.
•    Languages: English.
•    Other training as deemed mandatory by the bank and updated on a periodic basis.
