Job Summary
• We are seeking an experienced Development Lead with deep expertise in Java, Lit (Web Components), and ReactJS, and an enthusiasm for integrating AI tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate development. You will be responsible for leading a full-stack team to design, build, and deliver scalable, performant web applications with a modern architecture. You will also champion the integration of AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity and code quality.
• This role is responsible to deliver Data management Solutions, and the individual is expected to have sound knowledge in Privacy domain. The position will be responsible for leading the development team and engineering solutions, implementation, and maintenance. This role will also require coordination with multiple business areas within and outside the CDO Stakeholders to ensure requirements are effectively implemented to promote compliance objectives for the Data risks (Privacy, Data Quality, Records, Sovereignty and AI).
• To be successful in this role, the candidate should have solid experience in developing cutting edge engineering solutions including emerging technologies, tools, and must be able to embed efficiencies through artificial intelligence in the development cycles. Good knowledge in the Data Privacy and data by design principles is essential for designing and implementing the solutions.
Solution Design & Delivery
• Lead a team of developers across frontend, backend, and integration workstreams.
• Architect and implement scalable applications using Java (Spring Boot), React, and Lit.
• Drive adoption of AI development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve engineering velocity and developer experience.
• Ensure best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and version control (Git/GitHub).
• Collaborate with product managers and UI/UX designers to deliver high-quality, user-centric solutions.
• Conduct regular code reviews, mentor team members, and encourage clean, maintainable code.
• Uphold architectural standards, development guidelines, and performance benchmarks. Work with Solution Architecture Team to make sure the deployment architecture does meet the required standards and the strategic roadmap. upkeep of the architecture documentation covering functional flow & physical deployment details
• Identify technical debt and areas for refactoring or improvement.
• Lead sprint planning, estimation, and delivery in an Agile environment.
• Stay updated on trends in AI-assisted development and modern frontend frameworks.
• Maintain subject matter knowledge of data management & its related technology frameworks
• Responsible for assisting with the management of the data privacy, data protection, data usability, performance, and the integrity of the privacy solutions
• Maintain awareness and knowledge around vendor products, offerings, and in-house solutions
• Perform evaluations on applicability to Data and Privacy ecosystem & the requirements, together with PO's, SM's, SME’s and other stakeholders
• Scrutinize project constraints to analyze alternatives, mitigate risks, and conduct process re-engineering as necessary, while always taking into consideration regulatory requirements
• Lead and drive inter-tower collaboration within SCB infrastructure, development, security. ITSM & other organizations to enable smooth execution of delivery plan
• Be accountable to meet the release cycle compliance - SDF process. Build, maintain & store artifacts in ADO, Confluence, etc.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagements
• Partner with stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver solutions – deep understanding of the problem and context along with ownership are key to be successful in this role
• Provide regular update on delivery progress and raise Risks' & Issues proactively and take actions to mitigate them.
• Own the end-to-end Delivery plan along with Head, Solution Engg for customer privacy and the PO
• Act as a representative to the key business stakeholders in day-to-day matters
Vendor Management
• Assist in discussion with vendor team on architecture, deployment, capacity decisions
• Assist Review with Vendor Service Review Calls
• Document SLA, ticket priority, support portals, contact points, email, phone numbers which can be used for service request, issues, new enhancements, additional licensing etc.
SRE
• Initiate and comply to the SRE NFR's checklist
• Integrate with the central observability platform to ease SRE's manual monitoring workload
• Work with business to agree & define SLA
• Enable Infra & Application Capacity reviews to help plan uplifts for stability
• License consumption tracking to ensure no breaches and plan ahead
Strategy
• Awareness and alignment to the Group Data & AI as well as the T&A Technology Strategy and ensure solutions are adhering for the long term
Business
• Drive to deliver the assigned workloads of the CDO Data & AI OKR’s and Mercury Programme commitments. Ensure the solutions are aligned and help the wider business and functions risk reduction for Data.
People & Talent
• Mentor and guide junior engineering teams in emerging technologies and upskilling as per the skills development frameworks.
Risk Management
• Ensure compliance to eSDLC
• Ensure compliance to Data & ICS Policies
• Assist it identifying the reduction of data risks jointly with the Product owner and the Head of Solution Engineering for Privacy.
Governance
• Ensure knowledge of the technology governance and compliance to T&A , DAP Governance.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
