Job Description: 

Job Summary

Lead and mentor a cross-functional mobile engineering team delivering high-quality iOS and Android applications. Own the technical direction, architecture decisions, and engineering standards for mobile platforms.

Key Responsibilities

•    Define and drive mobile architecture, coding standards, and best practices across iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin/Jetpack Compose)
•    Lead, coach, and grow a team of mobile engineers through code reviews, 1-on-1s, and technical guidance
•    Collaborate with Product Owners, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features end-to-end
•    Own non-functional requirements: performance, security, accessibility, and scalability
•    Drive technical roadmap planning, sprint ceremonies, and capacity management
•    Champion CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and release processes
•    Manage technical debt, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies

Strategy
•    Define and own the mobile engineering technical roadmap aligned to business goals
•    Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns
•    Drive platform modernisation initiatives 
•    Contribute to long-term product and engineering strategy with leadership

Business
•    Partner with Product Owners to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
•    Ensure mobile delivery timelines and quality meet business commitments (SayDo%)
•    Provide technical input into business cases, effort estimates, and feasibility assessments
•    Represent engineering perspective in stakeholder and executive discussions

Processes
•    Establish and enforce coding standards, PR review practices, and Definition of Done
•    Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment processes
•    Drive adoption of automated testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E)
•    Lead sprint ceremonies: planning, retrospectives, and technical grooming

People & Talent
•    Lead, mentor, and grow a team of iOS and Android engineers
•    Conduct performance reviews, career development planning, and 1-on-1 coaching
•    Identify skill gaps and drive learning initiatives, training, and knowledge sharing
•    Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and engineering excellence

Risk Management
•    Identify and mitigate technical risks across mobile delivery and architecture
•    Ensure compliance with security standards (OWASP Mobile Top 10, SAST/DAST)
•    Own technical debt prioritisation and remediation planning
•    Manage incident response and root cause analysis for production issues

Governance
•    Ensure mobile engineering practices align with enterprise architecture and security policies
•    Oversee adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g. data privacy, accessibility)
•    Maintain audit-ready documentation for architecture decisions and release artefacts
•    Enforce branch protection, code review, and change management policies

Skills and Experience

•    iOS Development (Swift / SwiftUI)
•    Android Development (Kotlin / Jetpack Compose)
•    Mobile Architecture (MVVM, Clean Architecture)
•    CI/CD & DevOps (Azure DevOps, Fastlane, Pipelines)
•    Automated Testing (Unit, Integration, E2E — XCTest, Espresso, Playwright)
•    Mobile Security (OWASP Mobile Top 10, SAST/DAST)
•    Agile / SAFe Delivery Practices

Required Skills & Experience:
•    14+ years of mobile development experience (iOS and/or Android)
•    3+ years in a tech lead or engineering lead capacity
•    Strong proficiency in Swift/SwiftUI and/or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose
•    Experience with MVVM, Clean Architecture, and dependency injection patterns
•    Hands-on with CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps, Fastlane, or similar)
•    Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical culture

Nice to Have:
•    Experience in regulated industries (banking, fintech)
•    Cross-platform awareness (React Native, Flutter)
•    Familiarity with security standards (OWASP Mobile Top 10)

Qualifications

•    Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a Related Field. Master's Degree is an Advantage.    
•    Languages: English — Fluent (Written and Spoken) Required.
