Job Summary
• This is a core Project Management role where the role holder will support Project Management responsibilities for all technology, non-technology and transformation initiatives in the legal and Group Company Secretariat (LC), by providing expert project management & product owner support and advice on all strategic projects.
• The role holder will be responsible to drive strategic projects for LC portfolio, managing all aspects of the project (technology / non-technology / transformation / migrations/ outsourcing), throughout its lifecycle, to agreed budget and quality. The job holder will be required to be self-motivated and manage key elements of delivery as part of the wider team and work with minimal supervision. This is a non-people manager role.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Project managers are skilled in strategic planning, ensuring that projects align with organizational goals and contribute to long-term success. They can see the big picture and make informed decisions accordingly.
• This a strategically important role as it involves managing the overall technology / non-technology / transformation / migrations/ outsourcing portfolio for the function and ensure that the deliverables are aligned with the functional and bank scorecard. The role holder will be expected to manage this alignment and make sure that the tactical actions taken help us to stay on this course.
• Project managers must be adept at analyzing complex problems, identifying solutions, and making sound decisions. They exhibit critical thinking skills, creativity, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
Business
Project Delivery:
• End-to-end delivery of projects (technology, non-technology, transformation, migrations, outsourcing) through their lifecycle, ensuring they are completed within the agreed budget and quality
• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
• Manage the project RAIDS (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and escalate any issues for swift resolution
• Ensure project deliverables are of high quality and meet the bank’s legal and regulatory requirements
• Have a thorough understanding of the portfolio, the processes and the technology stack within the function
Stakeholder Management:
• Identify and engage key stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and external partners
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the program
• Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to senior management and stakeholders
Strategic Planning and Governance:
• Work with stakeholders to identify and assess legal requirements and align them with the bank’s overall business objectives
• Establish governance and review program documents to meet the highest quality standards
• Support the Project/Programme Steering Committee (PSC/PgSC) in preparing quality materials
Financial Management:
• Manage the project investment budget, drive a disciplined budget process, and ensure accurate forecasting
• Support the Group, Region, and Country teams on financial management, project planning, overall project governance, and various management reporting
Technology and Vendor Management:
• Have a thorough understanding of the portfolio, processes, and technology stack within the function
• Manage vendor relationships and monitor spend and progress against delivery schedules
• Ensure project tools (e.g., Clarity, Azure DevOps) are up to date and tracked
Change Management:
• Lead and drive change management, take calculated risks, and seek continuous improvement
• Ensure minimal disruption to services, reduction in back-out activities, and cost-effective utilization of resources involved in implementing change
Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with other departments within the bank to ensure projects are aligned with overall business strategy
• Organize and coordinate country project forums and support group management forum presentation decks and project initiatives
Compliance and Ethics:
• Embed the highest standards of group ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank
Processes
• Resource alignment and planning – ensuring that the initiative delivery squad and alignment and set up as per the various roles required to execute the project
• Program Planning: Developing and defining the scope, objectives, and deliverables of the program. Creating a comprehensive program plan that outlines the tasks, timelines, budget and resources required.
• Budgeting and Financial Management: Project managers should possess knowledge and skills in financial management, including budgeting, cost estimation, and resource allocation. They ensure that projects are executed within allocated budgets and meet financial objectives.
• Project Execution: Overseeing the implementation of project activities and deliverables. Monitoring progress, tracking milestones, and addressing any issues or bottlenecks that arise.
• Project Evaluation: Conducting post-program evaluations to assess outcomes, identify lessons learned, and make recommendations for future improvements. Capturing and sharing best practices and knowledge gained from the program.
• Project Communications, reporting and documentation – ensure that the projects adhere to the applicable communications framework so that the various stakeholders are updated on a regular basis depending on the criticality of the project. This includes reviewing the project communication artefacts, generating regular reports on program progress, milestones achieved, and budget utilization. Maintaining comprehensive documentation, including project plans, risk registers, and status updates
• Quality Assurance: Ensuring the Project adheres to quality standards and meets customer expectations. Establishing and monitoring quality control processes to identify and resolve issues promptly
• Monitor process implementation effectiveness: Identify key areas for improvement / issues and enhance process / controls embedding for the effective management of risk including reviewing Change Request Approvals (CRAs), Go Live parameters etc
People & Talent
• Key Liaison between tech and business stakeholders
• Ability to draw parallels between the various internal and external conversations to draw effective correlations
• Work closely with the business/ POs, acting as a pseudo product owner and liaising between the business users and technology team.
• Facilitating collaboration and ensuring everyone is aligned with the program objectives
• Possess strong leadership qualities, including the ability to inspire and motivate team members, resolve conflicts, and make decisions that align with the program's objectives. Should have excellent interpersonal skills being able to connect with different levels within the organization to collaborate and mediate effectively
• Resource Management: Allocating and managing resources, such as personnel, budget, and equipment, to support the program's goals and deliverables. Monitoring resource utilization and adjusting as needed
• Instil trust, give clarity and guidance to the team to work effectively and nurture a best in class team
Risk Management
• Risk Management: Identifying and assessing potential risks and developing mitigation strategies, monitoring program risks throughout the lifecycle and implementing contingency plans when necessary
• The individual is expected to be adept at identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. They have a solid understanding of risk assessment, risk response planning, and contingency planning to minimize project disruptions
Governance
• Adhering to the bank defined Investment Management Standards / Governance Framework – includes preparation for the various governance meetings and collaborating with different cross functional teams for meetings like Refinement Forums (RF), Monthly Performance review (MPR) and Quarterly Performance Review (QPR), timely delivery and quality of the artefacts , driving the agenda, publishing the meeting minutes in a timely manner and follow ups where required.

Key stakeholders
• Project managers work closely with various stakeholders, including clients, executives, team members, and external partners. They excel in building relationships, managing expectations, and ensuring effective communication and engagement with stakeholders. The stakeholders for this role include (but not limited to)

• Various cross functional teams – Technology, information cyber security, security and architecture etc

Skills and Experience
• Knowledge of industry standards – Banking, legal, Project Management, quality assurance
• Experience in the area of Project and Change Management on existing production live systems at least 10 years professional management experience
• Minimum of 3 years hands on experience in Agile and / or managing change for Software/ IT Projects / Teams using Agile
• High technical acumen – including technical know-how of IT concepts, architectures, infrastructure and components
• On hand experience in managing SaaS based applications and understanding third party vendor requirements for onboarding such applications into the bank’s ecosystem
• On hand experience in managing technology build outs in PaaS based on agile framework
• Ability to manage, foresee and proactively manage risks
• Familiarity with various project management tools like – Clarity, ADO, Planview, MPP, Visio etc
• Data analysis, MI and reporting
• Adept at using MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Change management

Qualifications
Education
• A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, project management, with practical knowledge of the BFSI domain
• Strong Project Management experience, with good understanding of Legal environment
Training
• Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies: Familiarity with established project management methodologies, such as Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches, enables program managers to effectively plan, execute, and monitor projects based on industry best practices.
Licenses
• PMP, PRINCE 2, ITIL (good to have)
Certifications
• Scrum Master and Product Owner certification from Scrum Alliance, Scrum.org or other associations
Languages
• Strong communication skills in English – both written and verbal. Ability to articulate and comprehend complex scenarios. Excellent communication skills are essential for project managers to interact with stakeholders, senior management, team members, and other project managers. They can effectively convey information, listen actively, and facilitate collaboration.
