Job Summary

The CIB Coverage COO team works with the CIB Coverage department to maximize the performance of the CIB Coverage business, partnering with the functions and geographies. The Coverage COO Conduct and Control team focuses on aspects of business risk management with particular emphasis on (i) Conduct and Culture (ii) Non-financial risk management and (iii) Governance.  This is executed through activities like leading the Coverage Non-financial risk committee (NFRC), Group Conduct forum and working with the functions to ensure effective risk governance, building  the foundations for future growth.

As such the Senior Manager, Conduct & Control, Coverage COO will: 

  • Co-ordinate, prepare and produce the Coverage Conduct and Supervisory forum pack and NFR (mainly Operational risk) packs including but not limited to Material risk events/Elevated residual risks weekly reports.
     
  • Compiling, analysing and reporting on conduct metrics, at both Group and Cluster level through the Conduct risk registers.
  • Represent COO team in Conduct and NFR related Working groups with Group Process Owners support (GPOS) teams.
  • Support Coverage NFRC secretariat duties including co-ordinating meetings and pack production.
  • Understand fundamentals of data preparation necessary for high quality MI and packs. 
  • Automate and build new NFR/Conduct reports that will cater to all functions/teams including senior management. 
  • Build NFR/Conduct analytical reports that provide insight into the process in addition to the existing reports and packs.

Key Responsibilities

Coverage Conduct and Non-financial risk reporting

  • Act as main point of contact for all Coverage-related Conduct and NFR data and reporting issues.
  • Performing the data reporting and analytics for Conduct risk reporting at Group level and provide a consistent set of Conduct reports/metrics to Clusters/Countries.
  • Source Conduct metrics (new and existing) from multiple support functions and the Group Conduct Dashboard and ensure a robust set of Conduct risk metrics for discussion at the Conduct and Supervisory forum.
  • Consult with stakeholders (Group Conduct Compliance and CIB COO Conduct lead) to define standard reporting requirements and implement changes and enhancements to ensure robust reporting of Conduct metrics and NFR reports.
  • Provide ad-hoc timely and accurate management information (MI) on the Conduct Status for senior management.
  • Track completion of annual It Matters training, Block leave coverage etc. of Coverage business and COO staff to ensure good Conduct hygiene.

Coverage Governance and pack production

  • Support Coverage Conduct lead in secretariat duties in Coverage Conduct pack preparation and production.
  • Support Coverage NFRC secretariat duties in pack preparation and production.
  • Produce high quality packs with detailed commentaries and visuals (graphs/charts) and dashboards for Coverage business Heads and COO.
  • Maintain the Coverage COI Register, in accordance with the bi-annual Periodic Review, reviewing against any changes that have arisen internally or externally, that would create new Conflicts, business scenarios where Conflicts may occur, or change the way existing Conflicts should be managed. 
  • Update any COI related changes to new or existing risks in Conflict risk management system (CRMS) or the equivalent in an accurate, completeness and timeliness manner.
  • Awareness and understanding of the Enterprise risk management framework and good understanding of Operational risk framework.
  • Awareness of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Conduct risk management processes

  • Maintain and improve the Conduct supervisory dashboard for Coverage 
  • Track the actions of the Group Conduct Plan which aims to establish and maintain a robust conduct framework within CIB.
  • Provide Group’s guidance of Conduct risk metrics/reports and best practice to Regional/Country Business Management / Risk teams and to ensure Group to Country alignment.
  • Support the Group Conduct Compliance initiatives like Conduct Health Check, Conduct risk annual self-assessment (as per FCA standards) etc.
  • Support Coverage and Coverage COO Global Heads in overseeing the identification, recording, escalation, and management of COIs.
  • Maintain the Coverage COI Register within the Conflicts Risk Management System (CRMS), including involvement in improvements and efficiencies of process, workflow and tooling.
  • Source data in relation to Employee Grievance investigations, Shared Investigative Services (SIS) cases and other behavioural concerns.

Non-financial risk management processes:

  • Ensure that M7 system correctly reflects the risks and controls, including making periodic updates to data following annual RCSA or ad hoc changes. 
  • Ensure COO team, process and risk framework owners have the adequate support to provide approvals in M7. 
  • Ensure the elevated risks, issues & events along with action plans and target date are updated in M7 in a timely manner as per the policy. 
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate usage of M7 data for the purposes of pack production. 
  • Own the data quality assurance process in M7 for Coverage through adoption of proper data hygiene efforts, potentially leading to services operations-certified data delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to manage progress and recommend modifications and optimizations.  
  • Ensure best in class delivery and data management, data monitoring and report. 
  • Assist in other ad hoc projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Banking/Finance, Mathematics, statistics or Computing
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in banking and financial services
  • Technical expertise and working experience preferably in Conduct Risk/Financial Crime and Compliance /Operational Risk /Anti-Money Laundering/Audit.
  • Strong data management and reporting skills to develop automated tools for reporting. 
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets, Coverage, Credit business controls and conduct.
  • Excellent excel skills with proven experience managing large data sets and performing analysis.
  • Good communication skills to share and present dashboards with global services teams and leadership.
  • Strong in pack production for senior management 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details. 
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and judgment.  
  • Good understanding of banking products / operations.
  • Highly effective verbal and written English communication skills.
