Job Summary
• At Standard Chartered Group Internal Audit and Investigations (GIAI), our people strategy is a critical lever for audit quality, risk management, and organisational effectiveness. As the function continues to evolve in response to an increasingly complex regulatory and risk landscape, we are strengthening our focus on being data led, insight driven, and outcome oriented.
• This role leads the talent strategy and people agenda for GIAI across the full employee lifecycle, with a clear mandate to improve audit outcomes through targeted, evidence based interventions. Positioned at the intersection of business strategy, people analytics, and organisational performance, the role exists to identify and remove the real constraints that limit audit effectiveness: capability and capacity mismatches, deployment inefficiencies, structural and operating model issues, and ways of working that hinder performance.
• Moving beyond broad people initiatives, the role is anchored in diagnosing underlying performance constraints, crafting pragmatic solutions, and influencing senior leadership through rigorous data, insights, and compelling executive narratives. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring GIAI is future ready from a capability and leadership standpoint, and that people initiatives translate into measurable improvements in audit quality, delivery, and impact.
• You will operate as a key member of the GIAI Resources and Organisation Effectiveness team, within the COO group for Internal Audit, working closely with senior audit leadership and stakeholders across the Bank.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Strategy & Business Outcomes
• Partner with senior leadership to translate GIAI’s strategic and regulatory priorities into a forward looking talent and capability strategy that directly supports audit outcomes.
• Act as a thought partner to the GIAI COO and leadership team, using people insights to shape decisions on structure, capability, leadership, and deployment.
• Ensure people initiatives are explicitly linked to improvements in audit quality, risk coverage, delivery effectiveness, and stakeholder confidence, not solely engagement metrics.
Data Led Insights & Analytics
• Build and maintain a robust people and capability fact base for GIAI, leveraging advanced analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Move the function towards leading indicators of performance, complementing traditional engagement and lag measures.
• Translate complex datasets into clear, compelling executive narratives that enable timely and confident decision making.
Future Capability & Leadership Readiness
• Define and continuously refine future critical capabilities and leadership requirements for Internal Audit, informed by the evolving risk and regulatory environment.
• Shape targeted build, buy, and develop strategies for critical and scarce capabilities.
• Strengthen leadership effectiveness by identifying where leadership behaviours, operating models, or structures are constraining performance and addressing those root causes.
Targeted Interventions & Continuous Improvement
• Design and implement focused, evidence based interventions that address specific performance constraints rather than broad, generic programmes.
• Use experimentation and data to assess impact, scaling what works and stopping what does not.
• Foster a culture of learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement within GIAI.
Team & Stakeholder Leadership
• Provide clear direction, coaching, and empowerment to the Talent Strategy team.
• Collaborate globally across GIAI and the wider Bank to share insights, learn from best practice, and deliver cohesive solutions
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key stakeholders
• Head of Resources and Organisation Effectiveness, GIAI COO, GIAI AET; GIA Staff, GIAI HRBP
Other Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of broader COO priorities through ad hoc projects as required.
• Perform other responsibilities under Group, Country, Business, or Functional policies and procedures where relevant.
• Demonstrate strong proficiency in analytics and insight generation, using advanced Excel skills as a foundation, with Power BI and Tableau experience strongly preferred.
• Use data visualisation and storytelling to translate complex people data into actionable insights that inform leadership decisions and mitigate people related risks.
Skills and Experience
• Effective Communication
• Relationship Management
• Knowledge of the Organization
• Business Ethics
• Business Acumen
• Understanding of the Audit and Compliance Function
• Data Analytics
• Understanding of HR processes
• Data Visualisation
