Job Summary

The Development Engineer will be a key member of Business Intelligence Reporting and Data Warehouse section of the CIB data management team and responsible for the design , development and delivery of the Data , ETL  and Reports . Ensure development and delivery of high-quality software that meets functional and non-functional requirements. The role holder will form a key part of a fast-paced, ambitious, delivery programme

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategy

 

  • Responsible for the design and development analytical data model, database, Extract Transform and Loading (ETL) routines, for building reports and dashboards
  • Review requirement specifications and work closely with the onsite team members
  • Analyse the business requirements, User stories and come up with the end-to-end design including technical implementation, and timelines.
  • Develop technical design documents, technical specifications and ETL mapping document based on the requirement specifications and user stories.
  • Develop data mapping documents and review with product owner and ensure the business derivation rules and transformation logics are accurate. 
  • Install, upgrade, administration, and troubleshooting of ETL, BI tools and guide infrastructure team on the recommended configuration and settings of the tool in order to best utilize the tools.
  • Create user roles, security filters and build custom data access setup for ETL tools and database.
  • Implement performance tuning techniques for database queries, ETL routines and scripts. 
  • Develop ETL procedures to ensure conformity, compliance with standards and translate business rules and functionality requirements into ETL procedures.
  • Create batches jobs using Unix shell scripts. 
  • Process oriented and experienced in onsite-offshore project delivery, using agile methodology and best practices.
  • Well versed with agile based project delivery methodology

Business

  • Work closely with architects and infrastructure teams and review the solutions.
  • Interact with support teams periodically and get input on the various business users’ needs.
  • Provide all the required input and assistance to the business users in performing the data validation and ensure that the data and reporting delivered with accurate numbers.

Processes

  • Should have successfully implemented or delivered projects using industry best practices in banking and financing industry
  • Deployment automation for Oracle Database and Hadoop , Informatica workflow, Integration, BI layer including MicroStrategy and Power BI components to the feasible extent
  • Actively participate in discussions with business users and seek endorsements and approvals wherever necessary w.r.t technology project delivery.

Risk Management

  • Assess and evaluate the risks that are related to the project delivery and update the management team with appropriate remediation and mitigation approach.
  • Review the technical solutions and deliverables with onshore delivery leads and key technology stakeholders and ensure that the deliverables are adhering to the risk governance rules

Governance 

  • Work with Technology Governance and support teams and establish standards for simplifying the existing reports and batch programs
  • Take end to end ownership of managing and administering the ETL, Reports and batches

Key stakeholders

  • Lending Tech PO, Project/Dev, PSS, DevOps, Artifactory teams, Platform and Integration, Interface, Biz, Vendor teams

Skills and Experience

  • DevOps solution 
  • DevOps CI/CD    
  • Banking or Lending Domain knowledge    
  • Coding skills – ANSIBLE, Phyton, Shell or Powershell etc    
  • SQL scripting    

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the business intelligence and data warehouse domain.
  • Create project estimations, solution and design documentation, operational guidelines and production handover documentation.
  • Should have excellent technical, analytical, interpersonal and delivery capabilities in the areas of complex reporting for banking domain, especially in the area of Client Coverage.
  • Full Life-cycle Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing project experience, starting with requirements analysis, proof-of-concepts, design, development, testing, deployment and administration.
  • Shall be a good team player with excellent written and verbal communications. 
  • Process oriented and experienced in onsite-offshore project delivery, using agile methodology and best practices.
  • Should be able play an Individual Contributor role.
