Job Summary
The VP – Capital Markets Products Controller is accountable for safeguarding the financial integrity, P&L accuracy, reporting and control environment for Capital Markets Products across WRB, covering derivatives, structured products, FX, equities and fixed income. The role provides end-to-end controllership ownership across product accounting, revenue recognition, fair value accounting, balance sheet substantiation, external reporting support and front-to-back controls over complex and market-sensitive products. Acting as a senior independent finance partner to Business Finance, Product, Markets, Risk, Operations, Technology and Change teams, the role provides clear technical accounting judgement, commercially informed challenge and robust governance to support sustainable growth, accurate reporting and effective risk management across Capital Markets Products.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Set and drive the WRB Capital Markets Products Controllership strategy across derivatives, structured products, FX, equities and fixed income.
• Ensure accurate product accounting, revenue recognition, fair value accounting, P&L reporting and balance sheet integrity across Capital Markets Products.
• Act as the senior finance control authority for complex product accounting matters, providing independent challenge on accounting treatment, booking models, product financial outcomes, reserves, controls and reporting impacts.
• Partner with Business Finance, Product, Markets and Risk teams to support commercially sound decisions while maintaining strong financial control and governance.
• Drive simplification, standardisation and sustainable control improvements across Capital Markets Products reporting and controllership processes.
Business
• Maintain strong commercial and technical understanding of derivatives, structured products, FX, equities and fixed income, including payoff profiles, lifecycle events, hedging relationships and market risk sensitivities.
• Apply sound commercial and accounting judgement to ensure product financials reflect the underlying economics, risk profile and reporting requirements of Capital Markets Products.
• Partner with Business Finance, Product, Markets, Risk and Country Finance stakeholders to explain key P&L drivers, fair value movements and balance sheet trends.
• Provide independent, commercially informed challenge on product performance, pricing decisions, new product proposals and growth initiatives.
• Balance strong control discipline with pragmatic, business-aligned solutions for complex Capital Markets Products and related change initiatives.
Processes
• Provide front-to-back oversight of Capital Markets Products accounting and reporting processes, from trade origination, product setup and booking models through sub-ledgers, general ledger, management information and disclosures.
• Oversee key controllership activities across derivatives, structured products, FX, equities and fixed income, including P&L recognition, fair value movements, day-one P&L, amortisation, hedge-related impacts and product close-out accounting.
• Ensure manual journals, reconciliations, exception management, control evidence and balance sheet substantiation are completed accurately, on time and with appropriate review.
• Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies, IFRS requirements, financial control standards, substantiation requirements and relevant governance expectations.
• Review and sign off the adequacy of financial control design when new products, booking approaches, system changes or process changes are introduced prior to go-live.
Risk Management
• Identify, assess and escalate financial, model, operational, market data, conduct and reporting risks relating to derivatives, structured products, FX, equities and fixed income products.
• Ensure timely remediation of control, substantiation and reporting issues, supporting reductions in audit, regulatory and Group findings.
• Support CFO declarations, attestations and senior governance reporting through strong, evidence-based control ownership over Capital Markets Products balances, P&L and disclosures.
Governance
• Ensure appropriate governance is followed across Capital Markets Products accounting, reporting, transformation and change initiatives.
• Represent WRB Capital Markets Products Controllership in senior governance, risk and change forums, providing clear evidence-based insight and challenge.
• Assess accounting, P&L, balance sheet, reporting and control impacts before product, process, system or operating model changes are implemented.
• Support prioritisation of control remediation, audit readiness, reporting transformation and sustainable process improvements.
• Maintain clear ownership, documentation and escalation discipline for significant judgements, issues, risks and remediation actions.

o Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association (or equivalent)
