Job Summary

Cost Simplification Programme is a Bank wide initiative funded by Fit For Growth. This initiative aims to simplify, elevate, and transform the efficiency and effectiveness of cost management processes in the bank –through simplifying, standardising, and digitising performance management activities relating to costs and redesigning processes to enable front to back visibility of profitability across multiple dimensions, directly correlated spend to cost drivers and business activities. This sets the foundation for product level costing which will enable better frontline pricing decisions, as well as greater cost ownership across the firm.  We will leverage technology to scale this capability and transform how costs are consumed and managed (amplifying the ethos of Fit for Growth) via sustainable cost containment, transparency, and management across the Bank. Scope of changes include:

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Establish a best-in-class process for Technology, Operations and Functions to ensure all areas comply with FFG governance requirements

 

Business

  • Collaborate with cross functional team to ensure the successful implementation of digital initiatives.
  • Set up a data knowledge repository and advisory function to enable improved data insights and enhanced productivity across T&O and Functions Finance.
  • Help drive simplification, centralization and standardization of reporting activities.
  • Be predictive and proactive so we have performance management updates readily available.
  • Drive the creation of strategic plans and sustainable saves initiatives including development of business case and assessment of impact to P&L, benefits quantification in sufficient detail to enable effective benefits tracking and realization. 
  • Provide additional support across finance activities relating to cost management and optimization of the cost base, including insightful analysis, highlighting trends, outliers and areas of optimization across the portfolio.
  • Provide independent challenge and influence to drive management actions and deliver targeted outcomes.  Champion and drive a culture of cost discipline and enhanced cost focus across the functions space.  
  • Facilitate meetings across the Technology, Operations and Functions Finance teams and stakeholders to deliver on FFG requirements. 
  • Track relevant KPIs and drive regular performance reviews to track progress on delivery of cost initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Conceptualize and deliver high impact, executive-ready presentations to support the financial narrative of cost initiatives for engagement across the Group

Processes

  • Simplifying, standardising and automating cost booking model, allocation processes and reporting framework across countries /business units / segments to reach a harmonised and centralised one firm approach, light to No-touch processes flows, enabling front to back visibility of costs for CIB and WRB business and address inconsistencies to booking to chart of accounts

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in reporting automation, data visualisation or data engineering preferably in FP&A domain
  • Conversant with all forms of digital tools
  • Proven track record in leading and delivering cost efficiencies and productivity.
  • Extensive senior stakeholder experience in a global, highly matrix organization, preferably Banking.
  • Strong familiarity with the bank’s financial systems and control frameworks
  • Ability to culturally orient in diverse & international team environment and lead and inspire multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, multitask, lead through ambiguities, influence where he/she does not have direct authority & build on unstructured formative situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with colleagues from different time zones and cultures
