Job Summary

•    The Vice President – APAC Head, Uncleared Margin Services is the senior regional operations leader for the Uncleared Margin function within the Global Margin Operations team. The role is accountable for the end-to-end delivery, control and evolution of uncleared margin services across APAC, managing the complexity created by multiple countries, legal entities, currencies, products, market infrastructures, time zones, client conventions and local regulatory requirements while ensuring alignment with the global operating model.
•    The role provides regional ownership for complex margin arrangements spanning derivatives, repo, securities lending, Prime Services, structured transactions, local-currency and other bespoke collateral structures. It translates country-specific legal, regulatory, credit, tax, documentation, custody, settlement and market-practice requirements into scalable operating models, system capabilities, controls and clearly governed exceptions.
•    As the principal Margin Services partner for APAC clients and Markets stakeholders, the role supports client retention, new-country and new-product onboarding, and sustainable business growth. It evaluates complex requests holistically, balancing client and commercial outcomes with regulatory obligations, credit and liquidity risk, operational resilience, technology dependency, control readiness, capacity and cost.
•    The role leads the APAC Margin Services organisation, establishes strong country-to-region-to-global governance, and acts as the senior escalation point for service issues, high-value disputes, settlement risk, incidents and delivery constraints. It drives simplification, automation and standardisation while preserving necessary local controls and ensuring seamless support across APAC market hours.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Define and execute the APAC Margin Services strategy, aligned with regional client priorities, country growth plans, global service standards, risk appetite and applicable regulatory obligations.
•    Design a scalable regional operating model that accommodates APAC country, legal-entity, currency, custody, settlement, documentation and market-infrastructure differences without creating uncontrolled fragmentation.
•    Maintain a forward roadmap for APAC regulatory change, new markets, new products, client propositions and infrastructure developments, translating demand into coordinated process, technology, data, control and capacity outcomes.
•    Prioritise regional investment and change using client value, growth opportunity, regulatory and credit urgency, operational risk, control readiness, technology complexity and strategic fit.
•    Drive convergence toward automated, resilient and standardised services while defining clear principles for necessary country-specific or bespoke solutions.

Business
•    Own the regional operational relationship for priority APAC clients and act as the senior Margin Services partner for APAC Trading, Sales, Product, Client Coverage, COO and country teams.
•    Support business growth through controlled onboarding of new clients, countries, legal entities, exchanges, products and complex collateral arrangements, with clear feasibility, risk, cost, capacity and delivery assessments.
•    Structure pragmatic operating solutions for local-currency margining, country-specific repo and securities-lending models, structured and Prime Services requirements, non-standard settlement flows and bespoke reporting.
•    Build trusted relationships with clients and internal partners across diverse APAC markets, ensuring clear service ownership, culturally effective communication and timely resolution of complex issues.
•    Represent APAC priorities in global operations, technology and investment forums while protecting global standards and preventing unmanaged local variations.
•    Provide senior ownership of material regional service issues and business-critical events, ensuring rapid mobilisation, transparent communication and sustainable resolution.

Processes
•    Lead the APAC Uncleared Margin function within Global Margin Operations, overseeing end-to-end services including agreement and static-data readiness, trade and exposure validation, IM, VM and Independent Amount calls, disputes, collateral allocation, settlement, interest, substitutions, returns, portfolio reconciliation, reporting and exception management.
•    Manage APAC Margin Operations to ensure accurate and timely booking of margin calls and collateral movements, prompt response to inbound calls, and timely acknowledgement of all margin communications within contractual, regulatory and internal cut-offs.
•    Ensure processing meets contractual, regulatory, local-market and internal cut-offs across APAC time zones, currencies and settlement infrastructures, with active control of non-responses, fails, disputes and liquidity or credit exposure.
•    Lead front-to-back design for complex country and client requirements, defining ownership, data flows, calculations, approvals, booking models, settlement routes, reconciliations, reporting, controls and contingency procedures.
•    Establish a controlled regional intake and due-diligence process for new or bespoke requirements, with documented legal, regulatory, credit, tax, finance, technology, operational-risk and resilience sign-offs.
•    Ensure manual or country-specific processes are risk assessed, subject to maker-checker and reconciliation controls, measured through management information, periodically reviewed and placed on a strategic remediation roadmap.
•    Coordinate regional hand-offs and follow-the-sun support across APAC, EMEA and Americas so that client requests, incidents and unsettled exposures retain clear ownership through completion.
•    Drive automation and root-cause remediation of recurring local adjustments, non-standard reports, manual calculations, fragmented booking and settlement flows, and reconciliation breaks.

People & Talent
•    Lead, coach and develop the APAC Margin Services organisation with clear accountability for country coverage, client service, operational delivery, complex structuring, controls and change.
•    Maintain sufficient capacity, seniority and specialist coverage across APAC market hours, peak-volume periods, regulatory events and operational disruptions, supported by succession and contingency plans.
•    Build expertise in APAC regulatory regimes, local market practices, products, currencies, custody and settlement infrastructures, client engagement, operational risk, data analysis and change delivery.
•    Create a culture of regional ownership, constructive challenge, client focus, inclusion, collaboration, continuous improvement and timely escalation.

Risk Management
•    Own the operational risk profile for APAC Margin Services, ensuring country, client, product, legal-entity and infrastructure risks are identified, assessed, controlled, escalated and remediated.
•    Ensure compliance with applicable APAC and home-regulator requirements for uncleared margin, collateral segregation, portfolio reconciliation, dispute reporting, books and records, data, client communication and local market conduct.
•    Maintain effective preventive and detective controls over complex calculations, trade and agreement data, eligibility, concentration, settlement, manual adjustments, reporting, reconciliations, access and information security.
•    Apply credible challenge where proposed business structures lack adequate legal clarity, regulatory interpretation, credit approval, system capability, control design, capacity or resilience.
•    Ensure incidents, high-value disputes, settlement failures, regulatory exceptions and unresolved breaks are contained and managed without unmanaged financial, credit, regulatory, conduct or reputational impact.

Governance
•    Establish country-to-region-to-global governance covering APAC service health, client outcomes, regulatory obligations, complex requests, operational risk, capacity and change delivery.
•    Chair or lead regional prioritisation and operating-model forums with transparent criteria, accountable decision-makers, recorded outcomes and escalation of cross-country conflicts or investment constraints.
•    Provide concise, decision-grade reporting to APAC Markets and global Margin Operations leadership on performance, country risks, client themes, regulatory readiness, bespoke-process exposure and remediation progress.
•    Maintain clear decision rights and escalation routes for non-standard structures, control exceptions, high-value disputes, manual adjustments, incidents, resource conflicts and technology outages.
•    Ensure timely, evidenced delivery of APAC-related audit actions, regulatory commitments, risk treatment plans, control remediation and client-service commitments.
•    Represent APAC Margin Services in regional and global client, business, risk, compliance, technology, governance and investment forums.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
