Job Summary

•    The Vice President, Head – EMEA Margin Services is a Margin Operations leadership role within the global uncleared margin operating model and is accountable for the service, relationship and operational outcomes delivered to EMEA clients from the GBS region. The role provides senior ownership of EMEA client engagement and daily Margin Operations performance across the end-to-end uncleared margin lifecycle, including the accurate and timely booking of margin calls, communication and response to clients and counterparties, processing and settlement of margin movements, exception resolution, and completion of all associated controls and reconciliations.
•    The role acts as the principal GBS Operations contact for priority EMEA clients and EMEA Markets stakeholders, building trusted relationships, understanding client and business priorities, and ensuring requests are assessed, risk-ranked and progressed through clear governance. It partners with Sales, Trading, Product, Client Coverage, Credit Risk, Legal, Compliance, Technology and global Margin Operations to support client retention, new-business growth and controlled delivery of new products, services and bespoke requirements across the region.
•    A core priority is to establish transparent assessment and prioritisation of EMEA business requests, balancing client value, revenue opportunity, regulatory and credit obligations, operational risk, technology dependency, control readiness, capacity and delivery effort. The role is the key senior escalation contact for service issues, disputes, settlement risk, incidents and delivery blockers affecting EMEA Margin Services, ensuring timely containment, communication, root-cause remediation and accountable closure.
•    The role leads the EMEA Margin Services team in GBS, embeds global standards and controls, strengthens EMEA-hours coverage and operational resilience, and drives automation, service transparency and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with applicable EMEA jurisdictional and global uncleared margin, portfolio-reconciliation, dispute, segregation, books-and-records and client-communication requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

•    Define and execute the EMEA Margin Services strategy within the global uncleared margin construct, aligned with EMEA client priorities, business growth, global service standards, risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
•    Establish the GBS service model for EMEA-hours coverage, relationship ownership, request intake, prioritisation, escalation, governance and performance management.
•    Develop a transparent prioritisation framework for EMEA business requests using client impact, commercial value, regulatory or credit urgency, operational risk, control readiness, capacity, technology effort and strategic alignment.
•    Translate client feedback, incidents, disputes and service data into a focused roadmap for automation, reporting, self-service, resilience and reduction of manual processes.
•    Anticipate EMEA market, regulatory, infrastructure and client developments and coordinate proactive operational readiness, communication and investment decisions with global stakeholders.
Business
•    Own the operational relationship for priority EMEA clients and act as the primary senior coordination and escalation point for Margin Services delivered from GBS.
•    Build trusted relationships with EMEA client Operations, Treasury, Collateral, Risk and senior stakeholders through proactive communication, service reviews and transparent action management.
•    Partner with EMEA Sales, Trading, Product, Client Coverage and COO teams to support retention, wallet growth, onboarding, new products and mobilisation of new or enhanced margin services.
•    Assess priority EMEA business requests and provide clear recommendations on feasibility, sequencing, funding, capacity, risks, controls, dependencies and target delivery dates.
•    Represent EMEA client and business priorities in global Margin Operations, technology, change and investment forums while preserving global standards and avoiding uncontrolled local variation.
•    Provide senior ownership of material EMEA service issues, ensuring rapid mobilisation, clear communication, appropriate client engagement and sustainable resolution.

Processes
•    Oversee end-to-end Margin Operations delivery for EMEA uncleared margin portfolios, including agreement and static-data readiness, exposure review, accurate booking and issuance of IM, VM and Independent Amount margin calls, timely responses to received calls, dispute management, collateral allocation, instruction and processing of margin movements, settlement confirmation, interest, substitutions, returns, reconciliations and reporting.
•    Ensure all margin movements are booked, responded to, instructed, processed and settled within contractual, regulatory, market and internal cut-off times, with proactive monitoring of pending items, failed or rejected movements, disputes and liquidity or credit exposures through to confirmed completion.
•    Establish a single controlled intake and triage process for EMEA requests, with documented business rationale, client impact, ownership, priority, approval, target date and status.
•    Lead regular service reviews for priority clients using decision-grade measures covering margin-call booking timeliness, response performance, movement processing and settlement completion, disputes, failed movements, reconciliations, incidents, complaints, aged actions and change delivery.
•    Coordinate response to material margin disputes, call or settlement failures, data or system issues, client complaints, operational incidents and resiliency events affecting EMEA clients.
•    Ensure bespoke or manual EMEA client requirements are formally assessed, documented and governed through appropriate maker-checker controls, limits, management information, periodic review and strategic remediation.
•    Maintain effective alignment between the EMEA-facing service model and global process owners, avoiding fragmented ownership and ensuring consistent hand-offs across regions and time zones.
•    Drive automation and root-cause remediation of recurring client issues, manual reporting, non-standard workflows and technology gaps, with controlled implementation and evidenced benefits.

People & Talent
•    Lead, coach and develop the EMEA Margin Services team in GBS, with clear accountability for client coverage, service delivery, request management, escalations and control performance.
•    Maintain sufficient seniority, capacity, skills and coverage for EMEA market hours, peak volumes, client events and operational disruption, supported by effective succession and contingency arrangements.
•    Build capability in EMEA client engagement, margin and collateral products, dispute resolution, risk and controls, jurisdictional regulatory requirements, data analysis and change delivery.
•    Foster a culture of client focus, ownership, constructive challenge, collaboration, inclusion, continuous improvement and timely escalation.

Risk Management
•    Own the operational risk profile for EMEA Margin Services delivered from GBS, ensuring risks, incidents, control failures and emerging client exposures are identified, assessed, contained, escalated and remediated.
•    Ensure compliance with applicable EMEA jurisdictional and global uncleared margin, segregation, portfolio-reconciliation, dispute-reporting, recordkeeping and client-communication requirements.
•    Maintain effective controls over agreement and static data, exposure validation, margin-call booking and responses, collateral eligibility and allocation, movement instruction and processing, settlement confirmation, client communications, reporting, reconciliations, access, information security and manual or bespoke processing.
•    Apply credible challenge to business requests where controls, capacity, legal terms, regulatory interpretation, technology readiness or operational resilience are inadequate.
•    Ensure material disputes, failed settlement, unresolved breaks, client complaints and service degradation are escalated promptly and managed without unmanaged financial, credit, regulatory or reputational impact.

Governance
•    Establish governance for EMEA Margin Services covering client service, operational performance, request prioritisation, incidents, disputes, complaints, risk, capacity and change delivery.
•    Chair or lead a regular EMEA request-prioritisation forum with transparent criteria, accountable decision-makers, recorded outcomes and escalation of funding or capacity constraints.
•    Provide concise, decision-grade reporting to EMEA Markets and global Margin Operations leadership on service health, client outcomes, material escalations, demand pipeline, delivery dependencies, control effectiveness and remediation progress.
•    Maintain clear decision rights and escalation routes for high-value or aged disputes, client-impacting incidents, manual adjustments, non-standard requests, control overrides, resource conflicts and technology outages.
•    Ensure timely, evidenced delivery of EMEA-related audit actions, regulatory commitments, risk treatment plans, client remediation and service-improvement commitments.
•    Represent EMEA Margin Services in client, business, risk, technology, governance and investment forums and escalate material matters to the Global Head of Margin and Collateral Operations.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
