Job Summary

The role – An interpreter (English / Chinese) role, with opportunities to grow into a research analyst / market strategist over time

 

Location – can be negotiated among where we have offices (in mainland China most likely, if there’s strong desire to come to HK it is possible)

 

Experience – no strong requirement, any years of experience (either in translation / finance etc..) of up to 10Y; not necessarily to have a degree in English, whoever with strong English language skills will do

 

Key skills – strong translation / interpretation skills in both verbal and written English/Chinese; ability to provide live translation accurately both way (English to Chinese; Chinese to English); have basic financial market knowledge

 

Key responsibilities – provide verbal and written translation with quality and efficiency, including live translation at meetings / webinars for professional investors / corporates / regulators; collect relevant information / pick-up sufficient knowledge / prepare contents ahead of key webinar / events; relevant research information / content collection

 

Other skills / preferences – a faster learner and eager to learn; able to work under stress; ideally have the desire and ability to grow into a research analyst / market strategist

 

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy/Business

•    Live verbal interpretation at webinars and China roadshows
•    Live verbal interpretation for various onshore visits including investor trips, analyst roadshows 
•    Provide quality written translation services and facilitate research information collection

Processes

•    Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations
•    Ensure compliance with procedures and controls as a result of changes in products, systems, policy or regulations

Risk Management

•    Be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group
•    Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them
•    Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment in Global Research 

Governance

•    Ensure adherence to the product governance both individually and within the global team
•    Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
•    Be responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
•    Work with the China Macro Strategy team to achieve outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.

Qualifications

•    EDUCATION     :Degree holder with relevant language capabilities ; or finance / economic / statistics background
•    LANGUAGES     :The candidate must be able to speak and read both Chinese and English
