Job Summary
• Provide independent oversight of portfolio health, execution risk and delivery outcomes across the transformation portfolio.
• Drive the aggregation of project and programme risks into a cohesive portfolio-level view that enables strategic decision-making and timely intervention.
• Ensure the portfolio remains aligned to Change Delivery Standards and within agreed Execution Risk Dashboard and Portfolio Health Dashboard tolerances, with material breaches escalated and remediated.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio execution
• Lead the portfolio execution oversight approach and coordinate governance, reporting and assurance activities across the investment portfolio.
• Aggregate project and programme risks into a portfolio-level view, identifying systemic themes, material dependencies and potential impacts on strategic outcomes.
• Translate portfolio data into a clear risk narrative and decision-ready insight for senior management, Board, Risk and Audit forums.
• Partner with Investment Portfolio Execution leadership, transformation teams and business and functional partners to improve delivery confidence and outcomes.
Delivery governance and standards
• Own the maintenance and continuous enhancement of Change Delivery Standards, execution-risk frameworks, governance requirements and controls.
• Ensure Change Delivery Standards, the Execution Risk Dashboard and Portfolio Health Dashboard remain current, relevant and actionable.
• Oversee compliance with framework requirements and promote consistent, proportionate application across transformation portfolios.
• Regularly review project risk-management methodologies against industry developments, regulatory change and emerging risks.
Execution risk oversight
• Set the approach for portfolio-level execution-risk assessment and maintain oversight of material execution, governance and regulatory risks.
• Monitor delivery against agreed tolerances and escalate breaches, systemic concerns and control weaknesses based on impact and urgency.
• Drive remedial action for material execution risks and dependencies, with clear ownership, milestones and evidence of risk reduction.
• Constructively challenge recovery plans and unsupported delivery assumptions with Transformation Leads, Accountable Executives and Programme Managers.
• Partner with second- and third-line stakeholders on delivery concerns, information requests and assurance activity.
Senior governance, risk and audit support
• Prepare concise, evidence-based materials for senior governance forums, highlighting strategic implications, decisions, risks, dependencies and required actions.
• Lead or support Board, Risk, Audit and regulatory responses on portfolio execution, governance and remediation.
• Coordinate engagement with Risk and Financial Crime Risk, Group Internal Audit and second- and third-line teams.
• Escalate systemic or high-impact concerns and provide transparent reporting on mitigation effectiveness and residual exposure.
Leadership and culture

Qualifications
Key Experiences
• Strong experience in change delivery, portfolio execution, governance, delivery assurance or risk oversight.
• Experience supporting large-scale transformation portfolios and influencing senior transformation stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of portfolio governance, execution risk, RAID management, controls and delivery reporting.
• Ability to aggregate complex risk information and translate portfolio analytics into clear strategic insight and action.
• Experience using Clarity and/or Azure DevOps and working across Waterfall and Agile delivery methods.
• Strong analytical, communication, prioritisation, judgement and stakeholder-management skills.
Certifications / Qualifications
• No mandatory certification required. Relevant experience in portfolio management, programme delivery, transformation, risk or assurance is more important than a specific qualification.
• Recognised portfolio, programme, project or risk-management qualifications are beneficial.
Language
• Strong written and spoken English required.
• Additional languages are beneficial where relevant to global stakeholder coverage, but are not mandatory.
