Job Summary
We are hiring for a Managing Director, for the role of Global Head, Wealth Solutions Operations. This role could be based in Malaysia or India, in Chennai. The role is accountable for defining and executing the Wealth Solutions (WS) Operations strategy across hubs, in alignment with in-country priorities and with a clear focus on delivering superior client outcomes. It will drive the harmonisation and optimisation of processes by leveraging a broad, cross-country view, champion new ways of working, and lead transformation initiatives that enhance productivity, cost efficiency and service quality. With end-to-end responsibility for Settlements (transaction processing), Asset Servicing, Discretionary Portfolio Management, and the Static Center of excellence, the role will ensure that global systems, capabilities and processes are robust, fit for purpose and implemented consistently across the franchise. It will be responsible for delivering against standard operational metrics and scorecards, strengthening risk control, governance and resilience, and proactively identifying, managing and escalating operational risks. In addition, the role will shape and develop Centres of Excellence to build deep technical expertise and economic value, while also identifying, developing and sustaining a strong pipeline of leadership and specialist talent.
Key Responsibilities
Core Operations
• Manage large scale Wealth Operations processing across the Four Hubs - India, Malaysia, China as well as key country operations
• Maintain oversight across Wealth Operations globally to ensure global consistency
• Capacity Management, work force management, productivity and load balancing
• Delivery against agreed service standards (TAT, Accuracy, Referrals) for financials and other transactions including financial settlements to all external entities
• Client Service management, client experience delivery and managing forums like SRMs discussing service trends, key business strategies and actions required to be taken
• Ensure client servicing, transaction and data processing accuracy, client documentation as applicable across servicing life cycle, accounting accuracy, reconciliations, including revenue accounting, tax compliance on direct and indirect taxes etc
• Accountable to ensure BCM framework adequately supports the business strategy. Where necessary provide executive sponsorship for major BCM initiatives.
Strategy
• The role holder is accountable for executing the strategic agenda for operations within Wealth Solutions. You will create areas of competitive advantage, and to resolve trade-offs between competing agendas in Affluent and Wealth Solutions
• Accountable to drive a balance of alignment and automation, minimizing dependencies that are blocking or slowing down client service through architectural changes, reviewing client journeys where appropriate.
• Responsible for transformation & efficiency programs across Wealth Solutions Operations
• Responsible for design and driving the execution of best-in-class WS Operational processes through introduction of industry standards, identification of automation initiatives, innovative technology solutions as well as process re-engineering
• Maintain rigorous cost and investment discipline across WS Operations. Role holder will be responsible for the Investment Operations budget and identifying opportunities for reducing the same through automation and other initiatives Continuously improve productivity and efficiency of operations and drive standardisation agenda for the business, maintaining rigorous cost and investment discipline across the business.
Business
• Partner with Heads of the respective WS COO teams to ensuring that Wealth Solutions Operations strategy defined in-country is executed in the hubs and caters for client outcomes
Driving harmonization of processes within the hubs by taking advantage of a panoramic view of varied country processes
• Responsible to deliver outcomes on standard metrics/scorecards, e.g. WS Operations budget, volumes, Cost Income ratio, cost and capital efficiency, productivity, accuracy, service levels, losses / lapses, issues, and the Operational Risk Framework.
• Lead transformation initiatives that deliver productivity gains for WS Operations. Managing execution of WS Operations projects for the group by conceptualizing and creating COEs to deliver economic value and deep technical know-how.
Processes
• Accountable for the design, build and maintenance of Wealth PVB operational and infrastructure capability to effectively deliver client outcomes. Own the end-to-end accountability for operations, transaction processing and delivery of PVB products to clients. Ensure global systems, capabilities and processes are fit for purpose and are implemented as per expected standards across our footprint.
• Leverage, experiment and use innovative technology solutions to deliver best in class cost to serve.
• Championing new ways of working across WS Operations
People & Talent
• Set strategic goals and guide teams for achieving results
• Ensuring talent on boarding and retention with succession plan in place for key roles and maintaining healthy bench-strength and leadership pipeline, and attrition management
• Ensuring framework for objective performance assessment of all team members
• Ensuring right skilling among team members and training /certification for specific roles
• Enabling a conducive environment for people including effective engagement
• Identifying and grooming talent pipeline
Risk Management
• Proactive identification, preventive controls and mitigation of key process / operational risks
• Strong detective controls and continuous learning and fixing from risk incidents
• Ensuring timely reporting of risk items as per the Group Risk Management Framework
• Drive risk management initiatives across the unit resulting in minimal or zero breaches and zero regulatory breaches whether data related or others
• Ensuring adherence to all Group Policies and Procedures and adequate training to staff to ensure compliance at all times
• Ensuring business continuity strategies are in place and tested at regular intervals as per standards agreed with country stake holders
Governance
• Risk control and governance, ensuring oversight and driving improvement in the control & resilience agenda. This includes developing a forward-looking end-to-end view across Wealth Solutions on the operating environment and proactively identifying and escalating issues and sharing themes / lessons learnt.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a Related Discipline
• Formal Training in Operations Management, Process Excellence (E.G. LEAN, SIX SIGMA) or Project/Change Management is an advantage.
• Relevant Professional Qualifications in Wealth Management or Wealth Solutions, Securities or Investment products (E.G. CISI, CFA, CFP) preferred, Where applicable to local regulation
• Certifications in Risk Management, Project Management or Process Improvement is an advantage (E.G. FRM, PRM, PMP, PRINCE2, LEAN SIX SIGMA).
• English & Proficiency in one or more additional Major Languages ((E.G. MANDARIN, HINDI, MALAY, ETC.) is highly desirable for Effective Engagement across a Global Footprint
• Significant experience in Operations preferably in a Financial Institution. Capital Markets Experience is a must.
• People Management and Team Management Experience Necessary.
