Job Summary

The Head of Business Management will play a pivotal role in supporting Financing & Securities Services (FSS) by championing robust financial governance, strategic execution, and dynamic performance management. They will oversee business operations across a global footprint, ensuring every facet of the organization—from Custody and Funds to Digital Assets—is operating in harmony with our strategic objectives.

This role serves as the main coordination point for leadership, fostering alignment across diverse products, regions, and enabling functions. By driving execution discipline, the Head of Business Management will lead efforts in transformation initiatives, cost management, risk governance, and operational performance. Their work will directly support FSS’s growth, scalability, and resilience, enabling us to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving marketplace.

The ideal candidate will be skilled at cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that leadership priorities are seamlessly translated into operational excellence. Their influence will extend across the organization, leading the charge in strategic projects, monitoring performance metrics, and identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency. By maintaining a strong oversight of business practices and facilitating effective communication among stakeholders, they will help position FSS for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Planning & Execution
•    Awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.
•    Support the Global Head of FSS Operations / Function Leads in execution of strategic priorities and transformation roadmap. Establish a governance model to ensure key milestones are delivered within budget and agreed timelines
•    Establish governance mechanisms to track milestones, deliverables, and outcomes across initiatives
•    Drive prioritisation and execution discipline across business, change, and regulatory initiatives
•    Coordinate global planning cycles including target setting, capacity planning, and operating model alignment
•    Coordinate and lead the budget and spending review for the global team. This requires:
•    Ability to monitor and coordinate hiring of new FTEs and backfills across the global team
•    Monitor operating expenses and ensure adherence with department targets
•    Monitor and validate benefits realization linked to right shoring initiatives and investment spent
•    Support execution of FSS Operations strategy, aligned to business growth, client service, and operational excellence 
•    Contribute to operating model evolution including standardisation, scalability, and global delivery alignment 
•    Provide structured support to leadership on strategic initiatives and transformation roadmap

Change & Transformation Governance
•    Act as central coordinator for the FSS change agenda across transformation, regulatory, and business initiatives
•    Ensure structured intake, prioritisation, and tracking of initiatives aligned to FSS transformation objectives (automation, scalability, risk reduction)
•    Track benefits realisation (cost, efficiency, risk) linked to strategic investments
•    Partner with Product, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure delivery consistency

Processes
•    Establish and maintain structured governance for: 
•    Initiative intake, prioritisation, and tracking
•    Business performance reporting and MIS
•    Ensure consistency in KPI/KRI definitions and reporting across FSS Operations 
•    Drive process discipline in financial tracking, headcount management, and benefits realisation
•    Ensure structured intake, prioritisation, and tracking of initiatives aligned to FSS transformation objectives (automation, scalability, risk reduction)
•    Track benefits realisation (cost, efficiency, risk) linked to strategic investments
•    Partner with Product, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure delivery consistency
•    Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and internal control standards 
•    Support management of process taxonomy, service catalogue, and operating model governance

People & Talent
•    Support leadership in workforce planning, capacity tracking, and location strategy execution 
•    Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration across teams 
•    Enable alignment across global teams (GBS and country) to support scalable delivery

Financial Management & Cost Discipline
•    Support end-to-end financial governance including:
•    Budget planning and tracking 
•    Headcount management and hiring coordination 
•    Operating expense oversight
•    Monitor cost efficiency initiatives including location strategy, right-shoring, and productivity levers
•    Support validation of financial benefits from transformation programs
•    Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Standard Chartered, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards. 

Business Performance & MIS
•    Lead design and reporting of core KPIs and KRIs across FSS Operations 
•    Ensure consistent performance metrics across products, regions, and processes 
•    Provide actionable insights on volumes, productivity, cost efficiency, and service performance 
•    Support implementation of data-driven operating model (STP, workflow efficiency, operational metrics)

Governance, Risk & Controls
•    Drive implementation of global governance framework across FSS Operations 
•    Ensure adherence to operations risk framework including RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment), audit actions, and control standards 
•    Coordinate governance forums, management reporting, and executive-level updates 
•    Support continuous review of process taxonomy, service catalogue, and control framework

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
