Job Summary
The Head, Production Engineering role is a critical role accountable for the end-to-end Operational and Strategic oversight of its global technology support of its global ICS Technology support and operations functions. This role is pivotal in driving end-to-end service excellent, ensuring high availability and performance of critical systems, and fostering a culture of continuous improvements across multiple domains.
As a production custodian, it is expected to ensure that the design, planning and execution of delivery is aligned with the Bank’s governance, change delivery standards and Technology strategy and standards. Your role works closely with the Sub-domain Tech Leads, Chief Product Owners, Product Owners, Engineering Leads, Business Analysts, PMOs and Scrum Masters throughout the delivery lifecycle.
As the Operational leader for key production chapters – including IAM (Identity and Access Management), CyOps, PAN-ICS Testing, KTLO Automation, Estate Management and Infrastructure maintenance and Technology Service management, the role will be responsible for enabling operational rigor, situational intelligence, and enterprise resilience through people, process and platform integration.
Key Responsibilities
This role ensures Production stability across PAN ICS, delivering excellent service, high availability, and continuous improvements across domains.
- Drive evolution and deployment of Cyber Security capabilities globally, supporting all business units and countries.
- Advance stability, resilience, security, automation, and standardization to reduce costs and boost Cyber Security adoption.
- Define and implement Cyber Security strategy to simplify, automate, and integrate security using SRE principles.
- Understand the Group’s business strategy relevant to the role.
- Implement ICS strategy on service, risk, cost, people, and security.
- Advise POs, CPOs, and CST Head technically
- Contribute to ICS technology strategy within the Build and Maintain Operating Model.
- Build strong relationships with CST, Chapter leadership, CPOs, Enterprise Architecture, Technology, and Security vendor
The role will drive adoption of new ways moving from ITIL to SRE full stack engineering, including CST strategies on Speed2Market implementations and Engineering Certification.
Business
- Understand the broader business, economic, and market context.
- Ensure consistent Cyber Security service and availability per SLAs and OLAs.
- Implement service improvements to reduce incidents, speed recovery, automate processes, and stabilize applications.
- Manage costs and drive automation to stay within budget.
- Ensure resilience, manage obsolescence, and balance platform health with feature delivery.
- Coordinate team capacity planning with the Chief Product Owner.
Processes
- Ensure compliance with Application support, Operations, and Build & Maintain Engineering processes.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure value.
- Comply with group policies and conduct requirements.
- Align production outputs with eSDLC standards.
- Support continuous improvements to boost efficiency across Hives and Sub-Domain processes.
Qualifications
- Excellent people management, mentoring skills with the ability to train and motivate cross cultural teams in optimizing their abilities focusing on their career aspirations.
- Proven experience in co-ordination of many dependencies and multiple demanding stakeholders in a complex, large-scale deployment environment.
- Excellent ability to manage and work alongside multiple senior stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of the businesses, markets and operations of Standard Chartered Bank and the policies, procedures and processes through which financial crime risks are addressed throughout the Group
- Domain Experience: Technology Operations, Production Support and CyberSec exposure.
- Significant experience with Programme and Project Management
- Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications: IT related tertiary qualification
- Licences and Certifications/accreditations: CISM, CISSP, ITIL v3 Foundation, Security or Risk relate
- Masters/bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) - Cyber Security domain knowledge is desirable.
