Audit Intern 2025
Group Internal Audit (GIA) is an independent function supporting the Standard Chartered Board and Executive Management team. We do this by helping protect the Group's assets, reputation, and sustainability. GIA represents the Bank’s third line of defence, we also provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of the management control of business activities (the first line), and the control of processes maintained by risk frameworks and policy owners (the second line).
About the programme
Our Internship Programme gives you the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working on real-world problems, hone your skills, create lasting relationships, gain insights, and discover your strengths. Throughout the programme, you'll acquire the skills for immediate success, as well as understand what's required for the future as our industry and your career evolve. A strong performance on the programme could lead to a graduate job offer.
Through this immersive programme, you'll learn about our Group Internal Audit (GIA) team and the processes, people and roles. You’ll gain a thorough understanding of what a career within the GIA team could look like.
Your programme will include:
- A one-day orientation introduces you to the Bank and your fellow interns
- On-the-job training and technical seminars to support your learning
- Performance reviews and support of managers, mentors, and buddies
- Networking within the GIA business function and across other divisions
- Gain Working experience of Audit tools and Audit Methodologies
As an GIA Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of data analytics in internal auditing. You will work closely with the Internal Audit team to assess and enhance our internal controls, identify potential risks, and contribute to the overall improvement of our processes

Role Responsibilities
- Drive innovation, identify risks and gain insights across the bank’s audit risk areas using data analytics techniques
- Contribute to the design and implementation (includes data sourcing, data preparation, data transformation, and modelling)
- Design, develop, and implement data models using Python / SQL / Hive programming language
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code. Create and maintain technical documentation
- Develop and create visualisations dashboards in Tableau / PowerBI
- Work closely with key stakeholders to understand data flow, data points, and advise on how they can be leverage in the design of data analytical solution
- Provide insights and guidance on the interpretation of models/analytics outputs so that appropriate actions can be taken by the audit teams
- Create and optimize workflows, automation scripts, and business logic to achieve desired automation outcomes.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing of tools/solutions to ensure accuracy, reliability, and adherence to business requirements. Implement and execute quality assurance processes for the projects.
- Embrace the agile philosophy and continuously seek feedback for continuous improvement
