Job Summary

Identity and Access Management is a critical function within Standard Chartered Bank operating under the overall purview of “Technology Services”. 

The IAM team comprises cyber security thought leaders, who are accountable for the provision of a global set of cyber security services and products in order to maintain and continuously improve Bank’s cyber security posture in today’s ever evolving cyber security landscape.

The IAM team protects the Bank from cyber security threats by delivering effective information security technology services, managing and responding to security incidents to ensure, and support the continuity and growth of Bank’s business operations; and meet the both internal and external stakeholders’ expectations across 70+ countries and territories, in which SCB operates. 

The IAM Process Improvement Lead is responsible for driving the optimization, standardization, and continuous improvement of Identity and Access Management (IAM) processes across the organization. This role ensures that IAM policies, controls, and workflows are efficient, compliant, and aligned with industry best practices. The IAM Process Improvement Lead partners with cross-functional teams – including security, compliance, IT operations, and business stakeholders – to identify process gaps, define improvements, and implement solutions that enhance user experience, strengthen security posture, and support regulatory compliance. This individual will play a key role in establishing performance metrics, streamlining access provisioning and governance workflows, and embedding a culture of operational excellence within IAM functions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Support and Execute IAM Process Strategy
•    Support strategic roadmap for Identity and Access management process improvement, aligning with organizational security goals, compliance requirements, and business objectives.

Business
•    Partner with all business units, Business CIOs, application owners and engineering teams to
•    Ensure IAM processes align with enterprise needs, while leading change management efforts to support adoption.

Processes
IAM Process Design & Standardization
•    Develop, document, and maintain standardized IAM processes across the identity lifecycle, including provisioning, de-provisioning, access reviews, entitlement management, privileged access, and reporting.
Process Gap Analysis & Optimization
•    Identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and bottlenecks in existing IAM workflows, implement process redesign to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Access Governance Processes
•    Strengthen processes around role-based access control (RBAC), attribute-based access control (ABAC), segregation of duties (SoD), and periodic access certification.
Policy & Procedure Development
•    Establish clear IAM process guidelines, policies, and SOPs to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with organizational standards.
Process Performance Monitoring
•    Define and track process metrics (e.g., provisioning turnaround time, error rates, compliance exceptions) to measure effectiveness and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Cross-Functional Process Alignment
•    Collaborate with IT, security, HR, operations, POs, CPOs, and business stakeholders to ensure IAM process are integrated seamlessly with broader enterprise workflows.
Continuous Improvement Culture
•    Promote a culture of ongoing process improvement by incorporating feedback, conducting periodic process reviews, and leveraging industry best practices.
Lean Knowledge Sharing & Adoption
•    Promote Lean principles within IAM by educating stakeholders on process efficiency, waste reduction, and continuous improvement methodologies; act as a change agent to instil a culture of operation excellence.

People & Talent
•    Manage requirements across senior technology leaders, business leaders, auditors, and risk functions to align IAM strategies with enterprise risk appetite.
•    Translate complex IAM concepts into business-friendly language for non-technical stakeholders.
•    Collaborate across multiple domains – IT infrastructure, cloud, enterprise architecture, application teams, and compliance to deliver.
•    Provide strong project and delivery leadership, with ability to prioritise and deliver IAM initiatives in alignment with cybersecurity roadmap and regulatory timelines.
•    Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.

Risk Management
•    Support Risk buydown activities

Governance
•    Ensure effective IAM Authorisation Security inputs into Governance Boards by providing evidence of high-level and low-level security technical standards being met, stakeholder requirements being met and transparency of critical service metrics.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
