Job Description: 

Job Summary

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer (5-10 years’ experience) to build applications and tools that support financial crime prevention and cyber investigations. This role involves developing secure, scalable solutions for investigation, case management, alert triage, and workflow automation, with opportunities to apply GenAI and AI engineering for intelligent investigations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Contribute to the FinCrime & Cyber technology strategy by building full stack applications that align with business goals and digital transformation priorities.
•    Explore emerging technologies such as GenAI, vector databases, and AI-driven assistants to enhance investigative efficiency.

Business
•    Collaborate with analysts, investigators, and risk teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
•    Develop features that improve case management, fraud detection, and cyber defence workflows.
•    Ensure applications deliver measurable value in reducing investigation time and improving operational resilience.

People & Talent
•    Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical mentorship and knowledge sharing where needed.
•    Contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation within the FinCrime & Cyber team.

Risk Management
•    Build applications that adhere to cybersecurity and data privacy standards.
•    Identify and mitigate risks in software design, deployment, and integration.
•    Ensure secure authentication, authorization, and audit trails are embedded in applications.

Governance
•    Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and design approvals to ensure compliance with technology standards.
•    Maintain documentation, version control, and consistent coding practices aligned with enterprise policies.

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. •    Container Tech – Kubernetes, Docker 
•    Big Data Tech – Kafka, Nifi, Spark

Qualifications

•    Minimum 5-10 years experience in software development with a preference in Python language.
•    Expertise in source control tools like Git, Bitbucket.
•    Expertise in continuous integration tools like Jenkins and in writing pipeline as code.
•    Expertise in environment provisioning tools like Terraform, Packer, Cloud Formation etc.
•    Expertise in infrastructure and application automation tools like Ansible, Rundeck, Puppet, Chef etc.
•    Expertise in monitoring tools like ELK, Splunk etc.
•    Expertise in container technologies like docker / podman and orchestration using On-Prem (Kubernetes, OpenShift), Cloud (AKS or EKS) etc.
•    Expertise in Linux shell scripting, Windows PowerShell and other scripting technologies.
•    Deep understanding in automation tools and techniques.
•    Expertise in cloud technologies like AWS, Azure.
•    Experience in multi-tier application architecture, development, deployment and support.
•    Strong sense of personal ownership and responsibility in accomplishing the service line and function goals. 
•    Able to get things done in a fast-paced environment. Be transparent and open around what doesn’t work and what does
•    Must be motivated, independent and self-sufficient. Able to receive an assigned task and see it through to completion with minimal supervision.
•    Excellent communication skills – oral, written and presentation; technical reporting writing across various types of target audiences.
•    Strong sense of personal ownership and responsibility in accomplishing the service line and function goals.
