Job Summary
Standard Chartered is seeking individuals passionate about leveraging innovative technologies to deliver world-class digital experiences for clients and customers. As a Frontend Engineer, you will focus on product development, collaborate with your squad to design end-to-end solutions, and deliver high-quality products to the Bank’s digital channels.
You will play a key role in analysing and improving the digital platform from both technical and user experience perspectives. Staying updated with the latest software technologies and sharing knowledge with your team will be a critical part of your role.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce frontend design principles, coding standards, and architectural patterns in line with the company's long-term vision.
- Mentor teams to ensure consistent adoption and alignment with business objectives.
- Drive cross-team architecture decisions (FE/BE alignment).
- Resolve cross-squad dependencies (micro-frontends, shared libraries). Negotiate requirements with the product owner (tech feasibility).
- Design and enforce robust architectural frameworks for React applications.
- Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to look at problems from multiple angles.
- Advise other teams as well as internal teams in resolving issues end-to-end.
- Strong understanding of the SDLC and Agile practices. Drive agile practices within the team.
- Conduct code reviews and peer reviews.
- Champion sustainable architecture by embedding future-proof practices (e.g., micro-frontends, incremental adoption) into the development lifecycle.
Candidate Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- 4 years of experience in web application development (HTML5, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS)
- Expertise in the React framework with at least 2 years of experience.
- Hands-on experience with APIs to connect applications to back-end services.
- Proven track record in vendor coordination, cross-functional collaboration, and delivery governance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence senior stakeholders.
