Job Description: 

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Product Specialist to join the Wealth Digital Products and Proposition domain, supporting the Equities Order Management and Trading platform. This role is responsible for driving product understanding, product enhancement, lifecycle management, and adoption of Equities trading capabilities across relevant markets and user groups.
  • The role requires strong Capital Markets / Wealth product knowledge, especially in Equities order management, trade execution, settlement, portfolio view, market data, and regulatory considerations. The successful candidate will act as a product subject matter expert, working closely with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, business stakeholders, front office, dealing, operations, compliance, and risk teams to shape product direction and deliver value.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
•    Contribute to the Equities product vision, roadmap, and lifecycle strategy, ensuring the platform remains relevant, scalable, and fit for growth. 
•    Provide product thought leadership by combining in-depth Equities domain knowledge, platform understanding, market trends, client feedback, and competitor insights.
•    Work with Product Owners to shape and prioritise product enhancements based on business value, client outcomes, risk considerations, and delivery feasibility.
•    Identify product improvement opportunities across the Equities order lifecycle, including order placement, execution, settlement, reporting, corporate actions, asset transfer, and portfolio view.
•    Support strategic product decisions by analysing product usage, user feedback, market changes, regulatory needs, and operational pain points.

Business
•    Act as the product subject matter expert for Equities Order Management and Trading capabilities across relevant products, workflows, markets, and user groups.
•    Partner with Product Owners to define product features, enhancement themes, and backlog priorities that support client needs, business outcomes, and product adoption.
•    Translate customer, front office, dealing, operations, compliance, and risk feedback into actionable product improvements
•    Provide product input into solution design discussions with Engineering Leads and Domain Technology Leads, ensuring proposed solutions are aligned with intended product outcomes
•    Define product acceptance expectations and validate that delivered features meet intended product outcomes, user journeys, and business value.
•    Monitor product performance indicators such as adoption, usage, operational efficiency, user experience, production stability, and control effectiveness. 
•    Support product rollout, communication, training, and enablement activities for internal users and relevant stakeholders.
•    Maintain strong knowledge of Equities product flows, including front-to-back trade lifecycle, instrument master, market data, static data, trading accounts, settlement accounts, FIX/SWIFT communication, and relevant market regulations.

Processes
•    Define and refine target product workflows and user journeys for Equities order management and trading capabilities.
•    Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, and improve product behaviour across markets, asset flows, and user groups. 
•    Ensure product changes consider end-to-end impact across front office, dealing, middle office, operations, compliance, settlement, reporting, and client portfolio views.
•    Work with delivery teams to ensure product enhancements are implemented in line with agreed standards, controls, and expected product outcomes. 

People & Talent
•    Contribute to the Product Specialist chapter by sharing product knowledge, market insights, lessons learnt, and reusable practices.
•    Support capability uplift across squads by providing guidance on Equities product flows, product behaviour, and platform usage.
•    Collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, Operations, and Control Functions to drive shared product outcomes

Risk Management
•    Identify product risks, operational risks, conduct risks, regulatory risks, and user-impacting issues arising from proposed or existing Equities platform capabilities.
•    Work with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, Compliance, Risk, Operations, and relevant stakeholders to assess and mitigate product-related risks.
•    Ensure product decisions consider market rules, trading controls, race conditions, wash trade risks, regulatory guidelines, and operational dependencies. 
•    Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters.

Governance
•    Ensure all artefacts and assurance deliverables are as per the required standards and policies (SCB Governance Standards, ESDLC etc.).

Regulatory & Business Conduct

•    Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct. 
•    Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. •    Product Owners, for roadmap alignment, backlog prioritisation, product value, and delivery sequencing.
•    Engineering Leads and Domain Technology Leads, for solution direction, technical feasibility, platform design, and delivery execution.
•    Front office, dealing, sales, and advisory teams, for product feedback, adoption, user experience, and market relevance.
•    Middle office, operations, settlement, compliance, risk management, and control functions, for end-to-end product impact, controls, and operational readiness.
•    Developers, Testers, Release Managers, and Support teams, for delivery alignment and product quality. 
•    External data providers, exchange-related stakeholders, and vendor/platform partners where relevant to Equities platform behaviour and product evolution.

Other Responsibilities
•    Maintain awareness of industry developments, product innovation, regulatory changes, and technology trends relevant to Equities trading and wealth platforms.
•    Support continuous improvement across Product Specialist practices, including product documentation, product metrics, stakeholder engagement, and feedback management.
•    Contribute to cross-squad alignment where Equities product changes impact shared capabilities, common services, market data, reporting, or client portfolio views. 

Skills and Experience

•    Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
•    Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; knowledge of the install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
•    Application Delivery Process: Knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, and formal application delivery methodologies; ability to utilize these in order to deliver new or enhanced applications.

•    Software Change Request Management: Knowledge of, and experience with, managing product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.
•    Software Quality Assurance: Knowledge of software quality assurance activities, tasks, tools and techniques, and the ability to evaluate new or enhanced systems, software packages and software tools to ensure adherence to functionality and quality requirements.
•    Release Management: Knowledge of activities, practices, deliverables and application release techniques; ability to manage and control the implementation of new or enhanced applications into a production/live environment.

Qualifications

Education
•    Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Training/Experience
•    Minimum 10 years of IT experience within the financial services industry, including 3–5 years of experience in Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Investment Banking, or trading platform delivery
•    Strong experience as a Product Specialist, Product Owner, Product SME, Domain Specialist, or senior platform specialist supporting Equities, Order Management, Trading, or Wealth platforms
•    Proven understanding of Equities product flows from order placement and execution through to settlement, reporting, and portfolio view.
•    Strong understanding of security instrument masters, market data providers, static data, party data, trading accounts, and settlement accounts. 
•    Knowledge of relevant market controls, including race conditions, wash trades, and applicable regulatory guidelines across at least two markets.
•    Knowledge of SWIFT / FIX communication and trade lifecycle messaging. 
•    Experience supporting product adoption, user enablement, release communication, and continuous product improvement.
