Job Description: 

Job Summary

The Team Leader, Retail Banking Singapore – Unit Trust Operations is responsible for leading day-to-day operational processing and controls for Unit Trust transactions, including subscriptions, redemptions, switches, cash and stock reconciliations. The role ensures timely and accurate execution of client instructions, adherence to regulatory and internal control requirements, and effective supervision of the team to mitigate operational risk.

The role supports the Assistant Manager by overseeing BAU delivery, resolving operational issues, coordinating with internal stakeholders and custodians, and driving process discipline and continuous improvement within the team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy
• Support the implementation of the Group’s and Retail Banking Operations strategy by ensuring efficient, accurate and compliant execution of Unit Trust operational activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, turnaround time and control effectiveness.
• Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and operating model as it relates to Wealth Management and Retail Banking operations.

Business
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of Unit Trust transactions, including subscriptions, redemptions and switches for Retail Banking Singapore clients.
• Deliver operational outcomes in line with agreed service levels, cut-off times and client commitments.
• Support business growth by ensuring operational readiness, stability and scalability of processes.
• Good understanding of the Unit Trust product lifecycle, settlement flows and client impact.

Processes
• Responsible for executing and supervising end-to-end Unit Trust operational processes, including:
• Processing of client subscription, redemption and switch orders • Instruction submission to custodians and fund houses • Cash and stock reconciliation • Resolution of breaks, exceptions and settlement discrepancies • Ensure adherence to documented procedures, Delegation of Authority (DOA) and Maker-Checker controls.
• Perform daily oversight and validation to ensure all transactions are fully actioned, authorised and completed within defined timelines.
• Identify process gaps, operational risks and inefficiencies, and escalate issues with proposed solutions where appropriate.
• Support audit reviews, internal controls testing and remediation of findings.

People & Talent
• Lead by example and set clear expectations for quality, timeliness and conduct within the team.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and supervision to team members to ensure consistent performance and control discipline.
• Ensure team members are adequately trained and competent to perform their roles.
• Support onboarding, knowledge transfer and cross-training to build team resilience.
• Provide regular feedback on performance and contribute input to performance reviews.
• Assist in reviewing team structure and capacity to support business needs.

Risk Management
• Identify, assess and manage operational risks arising from Unit Trust processing activities.
• Ensure effective controls are in place to mitigate risks relating to transaction processing, reconciliation, settlement and client impact.
• Monitor and escalate incidents, breaches or near misses in accordance with the Group’s Risk Management Framework.
• Support root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions for operational incidents.
• Maintain awareness of key risks facing the function and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.

Governance
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
• Support effective oversight by maintaining accurate records, documentation and audit trails.
• Assist in assessing the effectiveness of controls and governance arrangements within the team.
• Support implementation of changes arising from regulatory, policy or process updates.

Experiences & Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree In Business, Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics or any related field.
•    Candidates with 2 - 3 years of experience in Retail Banking And Wealth Management Operations with settlement operation knowledge is preferred.
•    Relevant Operations, Risk Or Banking Certifications will be an added advantage.
•    Systems And Platform Training Relevant To Transaction Processing And Reconciliation (E.G. Core Banking, Custodiy, And Settlement Systems).
•    Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
•    Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
