Job Description: 

Job Summary

The Associate Coverage Banker (ACB) provides direct sales support to the Coverage Banker (CB) to originate new business, and in partnership with the CB is jointly accountable for driving client revenues and profitability. ACB responsibilities include:

•    Focus on the Financial Sponsors (Sponsors) sector within the broader CIB team. 
•    Provide proactive assistance to the CB on transactions and new business origination activities e.g. client research, pitch books, cross-border coordination with network CB and CIB Product teams.
•    Perform basic client analysis, reporting on post-origination activities, and client meeting documentation
•    Support CB on sales discipline requirements e.g. client Account Plans, target setting, pipeline maintenance, client call reports, preparation of deal approval submissions.
•    Support deal execution matters including coordination of credit documentation, limit loading, fee letters with Sales & Product, deal drawdown.
•    Proactive management of portfolio including client and internal Product partner engagement to ensure efficient limit utilization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

•    Support CB in development of the Sponsors, GCNA strategy, as required.

 

Business

•    Provide direct sales and origination support to CB across the assigned ACB client portfolio, with joint accountability for revenue growth and portfolio performance.

Client & Revenue Management
•    Partner with CB to support client needs and transaction execution across products.
•    Support revenue and profitability tracking, reporting, and performance analysis.
•    Proactively manage client credit limits to drive appropriate utilization and business growth.
•    Attend client meetings to understand client priorities and coordinate solutions with Product partners.

Sales Discipline & Pipeline Management
•    Support Account Planning, deal pipeline management, and call reporting in line with agreed sales disciplines.
•    Maintain high-quality client materials and ensure timely documentation and follow-ups.
•    Assist in competitor and market analysis to position SCB’s value proposition effectively.

Origination & Transaction Support
•    Provide end-to-end transactional support including:
•    Client research and meeting preparation
•    Pitch book and marketing material development
•    Deal execution coordination
•    Credit documentation and limit loading
•    Fee letter coordination and drawdown support with Product Sales

Stakeholder & Product Coordination
•    Coordinate with Product, Risk, and other internal stakeholders to identify cross-sell opportunities and deliver integrated client solutions.
•    Ensure alignment across coverage, product, and execution teams to support deal conversion.

Portfolio Management
•    Support proactive portfolio monitoring and engagement with clients and product partners to optimize utilization and wallet share.

 

Processes

The CB retains overall accountability for Client Group Account Plans and client strategy. The ACB supports execution of the account planning process and ensures effective coordination across internal stakeholders:
•    Support preparation, documentation, and follow-up from Account Planning and client strategy deep-dive sessions.
•    Coordinate engagement of relevant product and functional partners to support delivery of approved client strategies.
•    Monitor client profitability, returns, and utilization trends and flag opportunities or concerns to the CB and Product partners.
•    Support structured engagement with clients to understand evolving needs and align activity to approved account strategies.
•    Partner with the Credit Analyst (CA) to identify emerging credit concerns, including Early Alert classification or GSAM transfer where appropriate.
•    Maintain high standards of information flow, documentation, and communication across client teams to support consistent execution of strategy.


People & Talent
•    Build strong, collaborative working relationships with Client Management (CM), Credit, and Integrated Middle Office (IMO) teams to support seamless client coverage.
•    Actively share knowledge and best practices to support capability development across the client team.
•    Provide guidance and support to Interns and Graduate hires, contributing to their professional development while building people leadership skills.

 

Risk Management
•    Partner with the CA to support ongoing monitoring of client performance, covenant compliance, and risk triggers.
•    Support client engagement to understand usage patterns and business needs in order to optimize limits and risk-adjusted returns.
