Job Summary
As the Associate Director of Corporate & Business Communications at Standard Chartered Hong Kong, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating comprehensive communication strategies that effectively enhance and safeguard our brand's reputation. You will be responsible for crafting and executing a wide spectrum of communication initiatives, encompassing corporate messaging, business updates, executive communications, and crisis management. Your work will directly contribute to reinforcing the Bank's position as a trusted and innovative leader within the financial industry.
In this role, you will build and nurture robust relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders including senior leadership, business teams, media representatives, regulators, and local communities. You will take an active role in managing our social media presence, ensuring that our messaging is timely, relevant, and resonates with varied audiences. Your insightful understanding of the banking sector and the Bank's suite of products and services will enable you to anticipate potential challenges and seize opportunities to promote our business effectively.

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for the Associate Director of Corporate & Business Communications include:
- Strategic Media Engagement: Lead the management of media relations for senior executives, including developing impactful speaking points, detailed media FAQs, and ensuring smooth and effective handling of media interactions to fortify the Bank’s public image and distinctiveness in the market.
- Content Development and Storytelling: Create and curate compelling content that elevates the external profiles of the Bank and senior leadership. This includes preparing press releases, arranging high-profile interviews, and developing engaging social media materials that showcase the Bank’s initiatives and leadership views.
- Message Alignment and Stakeholder Communication: Coordinate and align key messages across multiple platforms and audiences, ensuring consistency and clarity in communications delivered to employees, investors, media, community partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Collaboration with Group Communications: Work closely with Group Communications and other internal teams to synchronize local communication efforts with global strategies, ensuring a unified and coherent message that supports corporate goals.
- Social Media Leadership: Oversee and manage the Bank’s and senior executives’ social media channels, employing both proactive and reactive communication tactics to enhance engagement and brand awareness.
- Crisis and Issues Management: Act as a key player in the Bank’s crisis communication team, monitoring social and traditional media to anticipate and manage potential reputational risks, and providing swift, strategic responses during incidents.
- Strategic Planning: Develop communication strategies that are aligned with the Group’s overall business strategy, ensuring that all communication activities support the organisation’s long-term objectives.
Job Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related disciplines is essential. Advanced qualifications or relevant certifications will be advantageous.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 8 years’ extensive experience in communications, media and social media management, issues and crisis management, and content creation within a large corporate or financial institution.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese is required to effectively communicate across diverse audiences and channels.
- Media Savvy: Deep understanding of the media landscape and different communication platforms, with a proven track record of engaging effectively with traditional and digital media.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated ability to build and influence relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, media, community groups, and regulators.
- Organisational Skills: Strong ability to prioritise and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Communication Excellence: Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities and a collaborative approach.
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to understand and interpret business needs and align communication strategies accordingly, contributing to business growth and risk mitigation.
