Job Summary

Our Sustainable Finance (SF) team serves as a centre of expertise on a broad set of ESG topics, originating transactions and providing strategic advice to SCB’s clients. We also excel in providing thought leadership and influencing the development of the SF market. The group sits within the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) and works with sales and coverage teams to identify and deliver on SF related advisory and product opportunities.

 

The individual will support the SF team covering Greater China and North Asia (GCNA) to drive origination, develop strong client relationships and be seen as expert in SF by internal and external stakeholders.

 

The individual will work on originating SF transactions, be a centre of excellence understanding SF structures and industry trends. The candidate will support the team on handling industrial events to ensure our thought leadership align with SCB’s regional and global strategic initiatives.

 

The Role described below is for an self-driven individual who is keen to learn about SF and drive business growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the development and implementation of client strategies for SF products
  • Work closely with the senior members of the team to develop and execute a plan that would make SCB the Bank best known for SF by our clients and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the wider SF team, coverage and product leaders to develop and understanding of the competitive landscape and identify prospective partners who can address customer needs and accelerate growth
  • Support SF transactions and origination across all products, such as loans, trade finance, and deposits
  • Be able to work with coverage teams to develop client transition plans that encourage decarbonisation
  • ESG rating and benchmarking analysis for corporates
  • Develop sector thematic that describe SF structure alternatives
  • Develop opportunities through attendance at key Industry events as necessary

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Degree (BA or equivalent)
  • 1-3  years’ of working experience with knowledge and experience of SF and / or banking
  • Ability to promote good teamwork, collaboration and management of conflict across stakeholders 
  • Language preference: Ability to speak, read and write in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Korean and Japanese would be a plus.
  • Client focused with ability to establish and leverage high impact relationships
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management skills
  • Delivery and execution focused
  • Ability to work with lots of moving parts and prioritisation
  • Highly skilled in creation of briefing materials, report writing and preparation of presentations
