Job Summary

The role is focused on driving business performance / results through 1. facilitating the implementation of Bank-wide and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Coverage initiatives 2. supporting discussions and decision-making at various forums / committees and 3. delivering efficiency, change, and business performance agendas.

 

The role involves a combination of routine, project and ad-hoc work. 

 

The Business Planning Manager (BPM) will have experience in CIB business roles in the Banking sector alongside knowledge of CIB business trends and in-country regulatory developments. An understanding of commercial strategy, portfolio management, change management and how these play into driving business outcomes and managing corresponding risk and governance controls is required. They will also help to derive and drive execution of business strategies, processes, and manage day-to-day business activities.  Additionally, the role requires support on regulatory, governance, and event management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of business initiatives to deliver against the Global CIB business priorities for the Greater China region.
  • Drive in-country tracking of business performance and initiatives progress to ensure the business meets its KPIs and support Group Strategy and initiatives.
  • Engage with risk and compliance colleagues to ensure that frontline governance is carried out in line with internal policies and regulatory requirement/expectations, through establishing and implementing processes locally that adheres to all regulatory, risk and compliance requirements.
  • Support bank change projects to effect changes to organisational structure, client strategy, cost savings, headcount savings, property and infrastructure savings, profitability and other metrics.
  • Support for management meetings, including analysis and preparation of business reviews, deep dives, and risk & governance papers.
  • Engaging with coverage, finance, credit and other key stakeholders for support for investment proposals and BAU asks requiring approval from Coverage head.
  • Analysis of cluster, country and segment onboarding & offboarding, performance, risk appetite and strategies to assess fit with CIB strategy.
  • Ensure Sustainable Finance (SF) and Coverage Origination adhere to existing operational processes and work to improve or create new operational processes and controls e.g. working closely with Group or local stakeholders on governance for products and SF processes. Drive implementation of local reporting, ESRM or Net Zero requirements
  • Drive engagement with Group CSO, Group and local Environmental Social and Reputational Risk, COO Functions, Finance, Compliance, Legal.
  • Ensure training and compliance requirements are met by our Frontline bankers.
  • Ensure robust execution of the Cluster’s People Strategy.
  • Review papers for submissions to Risk Forums where required, and support reviews of approval requests related to Sensitive Clients, Non-Traditional Banking Relationships (NTBR), Fraud Risk, Sanctions Risk Assessment Form (SRAF), Defence Goods Risk Assessment Form (DGRAF), Personal Investment Vehicles (PIV), etc.
  • Support reviews of Country Risk Limit, Credit Risk Appetite, Intragroup limits etc.
  • Ensure that local product constructs are robust and that local risk controls are adequately implemented.
  • Identify areas of risk including regulatory, operational, and other thematic risks for SF products and processes, and then being able to ensure implementation of appropriate controls to mitigate these risks.
  • Review/ Assist in preparing reviews with external auditors, onshore regulators, overseas regulators.
  • Review regional Conduct Plan and monthly supervisory dashboards for conduct flags and attend the Conduct forum.
  • Ensure compliance with the sustainable finance governance structure and environmental and social risk management policies. 

Qualifications

•    Minimum undergraduate degree 
•    4-6 years plus experience in regulated financial institutions, experience in risk and controls or governance is preferred
•    Knowledge of environmental and socials risks and ESRM policies is a plus
•    Ability to promote good teamwork, collaboration and management of conflict across stakeholders  
•    Ability to independently drive initiatives with minimum hands-on supervision
•    Strong stakeholder management skills
•    Delivery and execution focused
•    Ability to work with uncertainties and complexity
•    Highly skilled in creation of effective reports and presentations
