Job Summary
• The Executive Director, FI RMBI Engagement will lead Financial Institutions-focused RMBI engagement for Standard Chartered, bringing deep RMBI expertise and commercial drive to banks, broker dealers, investors and public sector clients. The role will partner with FI Coverage, Product, Global Markets, Transaction Services, Global Banking and RMBI Champions, to originate, structure and execute RMBI opportunities across China access, RMB clearing, RMB liquidity, RMB financing, FX and capital markets use cases.
• The role is expected to translate the Bank’s pan-Bank RMBI agenda into actionable FI client opportunities, support senior client engagement, mobilise internal stakeholders and accelerate adoption of RMB solutions across priority FI client segments and geographies. It will provide subject matter expertise, client-facing thought leadership and disciplined pipeline management to support sustainable RMBI revenue growth and market leadership.
• Lead the FI RMBI engagement agenda for Banks, Broker Dealers, Investors and Public Sector clients, aligned to pan-Bank RMBI priorities and the RMBI Governance Forum direction.
• Identify and develop RMBI opportunities for FI clients with China-related investment, settlement, clearing, liquidity, financing, hedging or capital markets needs.
• Partner with FI Coverage teams to originate, prioritise and convert RMBI opportunities through account planning, senior client engagement and targeted pipeline management.
• Act as a senior RMBI subject matter expert in client meetings, workshops, roadshows, conferences and internal forums across priority FI segments and corridors.
• Support the mobilisation of RMBI Champions and FI product partners to deliver tailored RMBI solutions and use cases for clients.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide expert guidance on RMB solutions across China Access, Bond Connect, CIBM Direct, QFI, Swap Connect, repo, RMB clearing, CIPS, RMB liquidity, RMB FX and RMB financing, working closely with relevant product partners.
• Translate regulatory developments, market structure changes and China financial market opening measures into practical, client-relevant FI propositions.
• Advise on design and delivery of tailored RMB products, infrastructure and client solutions, balancing client needs, commercial impact and regulatory requirements.
• Work with Product, Legal, CFCR, Risk, COO and Treasury teams to ensure FI RMBI initiatives are executable, controlled and aligned with Group policies and risk appetite.
• Capture learnings from successful FI deals and use cases to support replication across geographies, products and client segments.
• Partner with RMBI Content & Enablement to develop high-quality FI-focused materials, including client pitch decks, sector playbooks, talking points, case studies, FAQs, market updates and senior management briefing notes.
• Support thought leadership and external positioning of Standard Chartered as an RMBI leader for FI clients, in coordination with Research, CABM and Regulatory & Public Affairs.
• Ensure FI RMBI content is accurate, consistent, commercially actionable and appropriately reviewed under internal governance and communication standards.
• Contribute FI perspectives to RMBI training, internal awareness and capability uplift initiatives for Coverage, Product and RMBI Champions.
• Maintain a disciplined view of FI RMBI pipeline, opportunities, client engagement, conversion status, key dependencies and risks.
• Contribute to RMBI KPI development, performance tracking and management reporting for FI client segments, in partnership with RMBI Strategy & Governance, Finance and COOs.
• Provide regular updates on FI RMBI progress, opportunities, risks and asks to relevant RMBI governance forums and senior stakeholders.
• Support prioritisation of FI RMBI initiatives based on strategic relevance, client demand, scalability, revenue impact, operational feasibility and risk considerations.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with FI Coverage, Product, Country, China corridor and functional stakeholders to drive coordinated execution.
• Collaborate with Public Sector, Banks, Broker Dealers, Investors, Transaction Services, Global Markets and Global Banking teams to enable cross-product RMB solutions.
• Engage regulators, industry bodies and ecosystem partners where appropriate and aligned to approved business, regulatory and communications protocols.
• Help build a sustainable FI RMBI operating rhythm, including regular stakeholder engagement, opportunity reviews and feedback loops to improve execution.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Business or related discipline preferred; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
