Job Summary
The role holder’s primary responsibility is to lead the Hong Kong FX and rates research and contribute to the China FX research. The role will be part of the Greater China macro strategy research team. The role will be responsible to contribute to the bank’s house view on the Hong Kong exchange rate and interest rate markets, facilitate the coverage of the China exchange rate market, consistently conduct market analysis and produce relevant reports, and working with internal stakeholders (sales, trading, relationship managers, capital markets, transaction banking, China opening team, CEO office, and so on) to provide high quality services to the Bank’s clients globally. This is an Associate Director to Director level role.
Key Responsibilities
- The role requires sound understanding of the exchange rate and interest rate markets, including market drivers, regulatory framework, macroeconomics backdrops, and relevant market instruments and derivatives
- The role is responsible to lead the coverage of Hong Kong exchange rate and interest rate markets, and contribute to the coverage of the CNY market, by providing timely analysis and updates to both internal stakeholders and external clients, conducting strategy research to provide trade ideas, conducting client meetings, and presenting at internal and external events to deliver SCB house views
- The role is required to provide market coverage and updates independently and consistently, including closely following market developments, interpret regulatory implications, conduct in-depth analysis on market outlooks, and produce high quality reports
- The role will be part of the Greater China Macro strategy research team to help deliver world class content in Greater China macro strategy (FX, rates) research materials, and contribute to the broader Global Research team’s publications
- The candidate needs to be self-motivated, able to work independently with limited guidance/supervision, able to work under stress/tight timelines upon key market developments, being a team player, and have sound written and presentation skills in both English and Chinese
- The candidate should also demonstrate awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates to ensure that Greater China Macro Strategy research coverage is aligned with the bank’s footprint

- Ensure adherence to the product governance both individually and within the global team
- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
- Be responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner

Qualifications
- Ideally for degree holder of relevant subjects, and experience of Investment Research, including emerging markets FX and/or rates research
- The candidate must have strong (written and verbal) language skills in both English and Chinese
- The ability to write to a high standard and have excellent communications skills is essential.
