JOB SUMMARY

Collectively we:

We are product specialists and ensure new products and new business opportunities are effectively operationalized
•    Improve: We adopt a continuous improvements mindset and strive to reduce Cost per Transaction through continuously challenging the status quo
We focus on Trade Capture STP improvement to mitigate fraud and operational risk and deliver scalable services back to the business.
•    Connect: We are accountable and responsible for all T0 activities and act as a conduit between Front Office and the other enablement ad operation teams
We act as a Global Team and communicate clearly and with respect in line with SCB values


RESPONSIBILITIES 
•    New business enablement and solutions, partner to deliver strategic FM initiatives:
•    Drive Operational readiness for new business areas within Equity Financing & Derivatives.
•    Lead the booking model design for new products within Equity Financing & Derivatives.
•    Work with MO Structured Equity lead in strategic planning process with business units and prioritize business development requirements to completion.
•    Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Standard Chartered, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

•    Book, reconcile, validate trader’s executions (including but not limited to FX, listed Futures/ Options, Bond, FX Derivatives, IR Derivatives, Equity Derivatives and Credit Derivatives)
•    Own query remediation, trade life-cycling and other day-to-day processing, ensuring timely escalation, in order to minimise risk
•    Understand the FX, listed Futures/ Options, Bond, FX Derivatives, IR Derivatives, Equity Derivatives and Credit Derivatives lifecycle from front to back and be the subject matter expert and go-to person for the core systems processing
•    Drive continuous improvement and innovate:
•    Partner with Technology to deliver transformation
•    Work with FO to identify booking model improvements and drive efficiency
•    Face of Operations to Equity Finance & Derivatives Desk in Hong Kong – primary point of contact:
•    Insulate FM from post execution processing / queries, represent Operations functions
•    Build team profile with the Front Office 
•    Stakeholder engagement, 2-way flow of information – “Trusted Advisor”
•    New business enablement and solutions, partner to deliver strategic FM initiatives
•    Constantly seek opportunities to improve global consistency, work closely with Hong Kong Middle Office team and other global regions to close gaps and standardise processes. 

•    Build strong relationship with other Hub teams (GBS) to facilitate efficient communications and speedy resolutions of issues:
•    Identify and close knowledge gaps within the Hubs through hands on training
•    Work with Validation, Control teams closely on BAU issues and resolve control breaks
•    Daily KPI monitoring vs SLA
•    Engage with industry bodies and vendors to identify opportunities to enhances processes and systems and drive efficiency
•    Be the subject matter expert for MIS, cost-per-trade, touch points per trade – drive their evolution and identify areas to proactively add value through improved data
•    Be aware of, and strive to reduce, vendor costs
•    Operations representation for external/internal and regulator scheduled audits:
•    Ensure Audit points are addressed within timeline
•    Achieve regulatory compliance and future proof the Middle Office model through a strong understanding of current rules and anticipation of upcoming regulations
•    Adherence to Ops Risk Framework standards of implementation and process management:
•    Continuous review of procedures and booking model
Regulatory & Business Conduct

Qualifications

University degree preferred, with minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the Middle Office function and performing relevant support activities with strong relevant product knowledge.

•    Expert knowledge of Financial Markets Equity Financing & Derivatives products.  
•    Understanding of products front to back operation process.
•    Analytical mindset 
•    Strong inter-personal skills:
•    Confident communicator - able to adapt style to Front Office and offshore colleagues
•    Demonstrate strong teamwork with internal and external groups
•    Thrive on working in fast paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
•    Fast learner with the ability to think out of the box and provide solutions
•    Proficient in Excel (pivots, lookups and basic VBA an advantage)
•    5+ years of relevant Middle Office function experience
