Business
• (WRB GRU) Wealth Solutions and Retail Banking Global Reconciliation function across markets, products and account types
• COE (Centre of excellence) for WRB Reconciliations that enables optimal end to end delivery of financial controls leveraging on global TLM system, core TP system with specialist accounting talent
• UK SOX / ACGR implementation for WRB – ie., Controls review, remediation and governance, in collaboration with Group Financial Controls team and External Consultants
• Aspire Project for WRB – Ie., Transitioning General Ledger from PSGL to SAP S4 HANA for WRB systems
Strategy
• Drive the reconciliation strategy for the (WRB) Wealth Solutions and Retail Banking Global Reconciliation function across markets, products and account types
• Deliver the overall strategy for the global processes, controls and technology solutions within the function
• Drive the alignment of GRU services with the relevant operational and technology change deliverables including leveraging innovative solutions to increase quality of services
• As a control stakeholder to the underlying operations, act in a directing and influencing capacity with the stakeholders regarding the recon strategy to secure ongoing support for the business process and technology changes required to deliver high standard of reconciliation controls
• Continuously appraise internal and industry strategies and approaches to ensure best practices and innovative solutions are being utilized
• Support Product, Operations and other Value centres on a day-to-day basis in areas of process changes, improvements and new product launches
• Play an active role in developing the business requirements on system enhances and follows through till delivery of requirements.
• Lead re-engineering initiatives along with other value centres like Operations, Service and Distribution for identification of cost-saves, process improvement opportunities & customer service enhancement.
Processes
• Manage account reconciliation activities covering;
• Internal/ GL account (suspense and sundry) reconciliations,
• Trade/Stock and Position reconciliations,
• Credit Card, ATM, retail branch banking reconciliations
• Perform error free reconciliation as per procedures (DOI) / Reconciliation Policy using reports from various transaction processing and recon applications.
• Handle customer queries and correspondence (both internal and external) and maintain effective working relationships with all departments, country and internal stakeholders including technology teams.
• Ensure effective follow ups and escalations, both internal and external, in resolving outstanding reconciliation items, process and system issues, as per agreed SLA / reconciliation matrix, DOIs. Ability to differentiate escalations to various senior levels depending on the nature and impact of an issue/open reconciliation break with clear articulation of the requirement and attention from them is a must.
• Actively look for opportunities to standardize processes / automate / eliminate nonvalue added activities and implement them for process improvements.
• Liaise extensively with a wide set of senior stakeholders, get required support to resolve long outstanding reconciliation open items and get buy-in to implement process / system changes
• Continuously improve team productivity to the standards prescribed
• Consistent review on process cycle times and ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
• Work to reduce System Downtime in collaboration with technology teams
• Create sufficient back-ups for each process to eliminate key staff risk at any point of time.
• Lead inward migration of newer activities and ensure relevant documentations are completed within the timelines
• Manage budgeting for the unit and have detailed knowledge of the unit financials - effectively control spends and deliver on cost targets
• Ensure high engagement levels in the teams with minimal attrition.
• Provide training to teams and ensure they have thorough understanding of the underlying product, recon process and its impact before handling a new process
• Implement robust training and development plan for each staff keeping succession planning for various roles into consideration.
• Understand the end-to-end impact of any new change/enhancement initiative, train teams and ensure the change is incorporated in a seamless way with no service impact
• Closely hand hold teams and train them to perform thorough User Acceptance Tests (UAT) in consultation with tech teams and co-ordinate with them to ensure timely completion of testing and comprehensively highlight all issues
• Perform end-to-end analysis of reconciliation processes and controls and propose solutions for addressing gaps, from a reconciliation perspective.
• Perform root-cause analysis of reconciliation errors and issues with clearly articulated mitigation plans.
• Follow up on risks with both internal teams and external stakeholders for timely closure without becoming overdue and promptly update actions to risk teams ahead of target timelines
• Liaise extensively with the product and technology teams to understand the product nuances and associated regulations to recommend required reconciliation controls and processes
• People and Talent
• SDAF approvals and Amendments for TLM Account Opening and Closure basis Country Ops approvals and confirmation.
People & Talent
• Ability to lead the team effectively through remote working
• Guide the team on Recon and Recon COE
Governance
• WRB GRU risk reporting related governance at country / regional and Group RC levels
• Periodic review of hubbed and non-hubbed WRB reconciliations for adherence to GPI (including exception management ie., dispensations from adherence to GPI)
• Continuous recon and accounting process review to assure that the controls are fit for purpose and act as mitigation against internal frauds
