Job Summary

•    We are seeking talented and motivated individuals for the role of Associate, Backend Engineer. Successful candidates will be experienced programmers who can develop user stories, develop test cases, debug code, design, and develop solutions in an environment with constant collaborative discussions. An ideal candidate should be comfortable working in an agile environment who can design, code, deploy and participate in the release deployment cycle. They must be able to offer constructive critical reviews of other’s designs and code. They must be able to collaboratively work with squad leads to develop use stories and test cases. They will be able to research, trial, and recommend new technologies of interest to the group. They will have experience with taking code through testing, deployment, and production seamlessly. In case of a production issue, they should be able to work with the required stakeholders and triage the issue along with the team.
•    Microservices design and development using Spring boot, Jackson, API , AXWAY/KONG API Gateway,Apache tomcat,Java, JSON API, Oracle and Openshift.
•    Should have strong knowledge in handling distributed systems
•    Good to have exposure in Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and Azure DevOps
•    Should have strong communication skills to participate in the design forum. 
•    Should be a good team player with excellent attitude.
•    Should be willing to help the peers and have a growth mindset with continuous learning
•    Nice to have skills in GraphQL, Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, LogStash
•    Advocate delivery excellence, minimising delivery risk.
•    Agile development of banking services.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile development.
•    Conduct continuous development and/or integration & testing.

Strategy

•    Oversees the execution of functional standards and best practices and provide technical assistance to the members of the chapter
•    Responsible for the quality of the code repository where applicable. 
•    Acts as a conduit for the wider domain strategy, for example technical standards. 
•    Act as a custodian for Java backend expertise.

Business

•    Experienced practitioner and hands on contribution to the squad delivery for their craft (Eg. Engineering).
•    Responsible to evolve the craft towards improving automation, simplification and innovative use of latest market trends.
•    Collaborate with product owners and other tech leads to ensure applications meet functional requirements and strategic objectives

Processes

•    Promote a feedback-rich environment, utilizing internal and external insights to continuously improve chapter operations.
•    Adopt and embed the Change Delivery Standards throughout the lifecycle of the product / service. 
•    Follows the chapter operating model to ensure a system exists to continue to build capability and performance of the chapter. 

People & Talent 

•    Candidate should have hands-on experience in Spring boot and API development.
•    Strong knowledge in Agile Development (exp in CI/CD/TDD/BDD, SCRUM, KanBan etc)
•    Min 8 years of development experience in implementing Java/J2EE & Spring Boot applications
•    Experience with leveraging advanced features and tools in Atlassian software suite
•    Passion and flair for technology, at home with team-oriented, collaborative and consultative environment
•    Proven skills in co-ordination and working with vendors and internal teams 
•    Strong knowledge of risk and regulatory delivery 
•    Knowledge of all aspects of software design and development 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills 
•    Should have a good analytical skills . 
•    Ready to work on both development and project management.
•    Contribute to creation of standards & frameworks for the project
•    Should have the capability to handle more than one project at a same time.
•    Prepare architecting solutions document, technical audits for the project

•    Prepare High/Low level technical design document. 
•    Learn and understand relevant application functional & technical architecture and use the same effectively during development 
•    Follow documented SDLC life cycle as per quality management standards
•    Participate in Requirement gathering and solution meetings 
•    Support developers by providing technical assistance and improve technical competency levels amongst team members
•    Design modules based on Technical specs.


Risk Management

•    Responsible for effective capacity risk management across the Chapter with regards to attrition and leave plans. 
•    Adheres to common practices to mitigate risk in their respective domain. 
•    Design and uphold a robust risk management plan, with contingencies for succession and role continuity, especially in critical positions

Governance 

•    Ensure all artefacts and assurance deliverables are as per the required standards and policies (e.g., SCB Governance Standards, ESDLC etc.). 

Regulatory & Business Conduct 

•    Ensure a comprehensive understanding of and adherence to local banking laws, anti-money laundering regulations, and other compliance mandates.
•    Conduct business activities with a commitment to legal and regulatory compliance, fostering an environment of trust and respect.
