Processes
- We are looking for a skilled Backend developer responsible for building applications, containers, APIs and microservices. The role will require to design and develop these applications, and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. Thus, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and product quality is essential.
- Design, develop, and maintain code that meets requirements, is high quality, efficient, reusable and performs efficiently and effectively to provide a great customer experience
- Incorporate standards and best practices, including performance, security, scalability, testability and maintainability
- Candidates will be responsible for automating parts of the development process in a way that tightens the development feedback loop. They should also be able to identify opportunities for automation during the development process.
- Participate in code reviews to spot issues around architecture, performance, security, and more
- Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
- Contribute to design patterns and coding standards while being mentored
- Troubleshooting interface software and debugging application codes.
- Developing and implementing front-end architecture to support user interface concepts.
- Documenting application changes and developing updates.
- Use continuous delivery to ship incremental improvements many times per week
Risk Management
- The ability to interpret and identify key risks issues in system and put in place appropriate controls and measures
- Monitor all major risk issues and concentrations. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate reporting to Risk Committees
Governance
- Responsible to deliver in accordance to T&I policies and ensure governance of the team’s adherence to the same.
- Responsible to ensure Risks and Issues are raised with appropriate action plans and remediated on time.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
- Lead the CPBB T&I ESTATEMENT Processing to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: The Right Environment.
- Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key Stakeholders
- Hive and Chapter leaders and squad members, Interface T&I teams, Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance teams, T&I governance
Other Responsibilities
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation initiative owner
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering or a related discipline, graduate degree preferred
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in Java Back end developer along with Springboot, Micro services and Database side experience
- Proficient in Java 10+ (preferably 8+) with a good knowledge of its ecosystems
Role Specific Technical Competencies
- Java 8 and above
- AWS
- Object Orient Programming, Functional Programming paradigms, writing reusable Java libraries, concurrency patterns in Java
- React, JavaScript/Typescript and technologies around it
- HTTP, RESTful APIs, HTML and CSS
- JUnit4, at least one assertion library, unit test, integration test , pen test and stress and load test, test automation, source code management and continuous integration and delivery Advanced
- code versioning tools, such as Git, ADO
- Maven and Gradle

- SQL and NoSQL databases
