Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to provide strategies for long term growth and daily BAU management of the Tuning and Optimization function within Transaction Monitoring, focusing on statistical tuning activities across different jurisdictions

 

Accountabilities

  • End to end accountability for transaction monitoring tuning including CASA, Trade, Securities Services (SS), Financial Markets (FM) & Credit Card AML (CCAML), daily/weekly/monthly batch execution including Mantas batches for 45 countries, custom scenario development and maintenance, analysis of event variance and various deep dive analysis, watchlist & threshold management, parameter & configuration management, optimization implementation, code review, mapping and execution, Department Operating Instruction (DOI) preparation and execution of DOI based on Group Transaction Monitoring Standards (GTMS) documentation
  • Working along with FCSO TM Solutions, Regional SPOC Teams, ITO, FCSO Transaction Monitoring hub and country FCC unit heads as required to monitor various surveillance systems execution, maintain BAU and deliver relevant outputs (events)
  • Manage a team of specialized resources that include, Mantas specialised resources and Configuration specialists to deliver end-to-end coordination and successful execution of business and technology change requests from deployment through go-live by providing people leadership and performance management of all project personnel individuals (contractors and permanent).

Key Responsibilities

Awareness and understanding of the Group’s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.
Drive internal challenge conversations in analyzing impact of financial crime related regulatory matters, relevant to Product and Segment Advisory functions
Lead Transaction Monitoring systems operations process for upkeep of solutions, configuration and change management in line with regulatory and business impact
Formulate operational process and team groupings basis solutions across CASA Mantas, Mantas Customisations, Trade Finance, CCAML, FM Third Party Payments (TPP) systems
Lead solution execution process drawing synergies across domains – Solutions, Change Management, Detection Scenario Maintenance, Threshold and Watchlist Management, Parameter Configurations, Library Documentation, Rule Book, and Control Reports
Establish frameworks and operating guidelines to track Monitoring solution process performance
Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency of processes through enabling technology to optimise and increase scalability, adoption, employee experience and efficiency measures, and reduce risk
Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from my team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
Apply Group AML policies and processes (AML monitoring) to manage risks.
Engage with FCSO TM solutions team to understand emerging risks and ensuring those are suitably addressed through the Monitoring coverage.
Provide leadership oversight on statistical tuning to improve the effectiveness and efficiency outlining transaction monitoring coverage against products and rationale for deviations
Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct

Accountable to ensure BCM framework adequately supports the business strategy.  Where necessary provide executive sponsorship for major BCM initiatives.

Skills and Experience

This senior role requires expertise in transaction monitoring systems, TM detection scenarios, red flags and typologies and TM processes.

The candidate must have a strong background in statistical methodologies, relevant technologies, and experience in designing or leading implementations of TM systems in global financial institutions.

The role demands sound judgment in regulatory relationship management, reputational risk, and the ability to provide direction at senior management levels

Key Qualifications:
Education: Degree level or equivalent experience.
Experience: 12+ years of Technical/Functional experience in TM systems and statistical tuning methodologies.
•    Technical Skills:
Expert knowledge in transaction monitoring systems. Experience with Mantas is added advantage.
Hands-on experience with relevant technologies (TM Rules, ML Models for TM) and systems.
Experience in statistical methodologies and their application in TM. 
Ability to mentor and lead the team with necessary functional knowledge and technical advancement. Automate and continuously improve the statistical tuning procedures to bring in efficiency and effectiveness.
